Sorry not sorry - this is the perfect beer. Strong, raisin, boozy, a tiny bit of apple, yet still complex with a flavor that changes from start to finish. All without being too much of any one thing
12 months ago
On cask. Disappointing from what I remember. It is halfway between 60 and 90 but no maple flavor at all. Hasn't aged well.
Fruity, oaky, strong. Great blend of beer, mead, wine, and all the old styles mixed with booze
12 months ago
An actually good black IPA (besides my own). Not super intense so it's good for summer. Good bold flavor with coffee at the end
12 months ago
Still convinced this is just a barleywine in disguise. So much raisin, toffee and chocolate
12 months ago
A bit thin and not spicy enough for me, but the dark chocolate flavor is great

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Dawson
Aged 4 years. Starting to lose the booziness and some of the complexity. Very smooth. A little more berry notes. I imagine this is the extent of aging for this one.
Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Dawson
Chocolate, maple syrup, and bitter coffee. Fairly boozy too
over 1 year ago
Like an old fashioned mixed with a whiskey sour. Tart, fruity, and a boozy and oakey aftertaste

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA Dawson
Just ridiculous. Initial aroma is sweet candied fruits and honey. Mouthfeel is silky. Flavor is a barleywine mixed with brandy. Notes of apple, honey, cherries, and a finish of dark hops and caramel candy. Curious to age this but I worry it'll lose flavor
over 1 year ago
Tart blueberry and a touch of coffee. Not their best variant. Will try aging for a few years.

2018, 5 year aged. Quite jammy. Drinks like a barleywine with tart berries.
Can't believe this is a session - probably because it's barely below the line. Tons of juicy flavor and a nice full mouth feel. Very good, but a little deceptive calling it a "session"
Light but equal parts juicy. Good balance of dark and bright hops.
Smells like super bitter grapefruit and citrus pith but the flavor is a little lighter and more of a sweet tangerine with some citrus bite at the end
about 2 years ago
Generally sweet, I guess I get maple syrup from it. The bourbon and wheatwine combo is coming across more as an apple brandy. Super boozy
over 2 years ago
A little more cinnamon in this than I remember. Still plenty boozy.
Tons of fruit in this one. A little strawberry and some tropical fruits. A little more tart than I was expecting.
Actually not a fan of the orange AND pine/berries. Should have gone way way or the other.

Maple Barrel Aged Frangelic Mountain Brown Dawson
Big chocolate notes with some maple and whiskey flavors.
An extra .25 for being exactly what it says it is. Cinnamon, vanilla, maple French toast. Literally all of those flavors and smells to a T.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Dawson
Aged 3 years. Starting to get more of a coffee flavor now.
The Perfect Pairing Pale Ale Dawson
A decent pale by itself. Does pair ok with cheddar. Tones down the sharpness of the cheddar but not sure it necessarily adds anything to it.
Whiskey forward but kind of bitey. Not getting a ton of sweeter caramel or corn notes I might expect from a bourbon specifically, plus the marzen aspects are more or less completely masked by the booze
almost 3 years ago
Sort of like a shandy, a mimosa, or a light orange soda. Not my favorite.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Dawson
Night before vacation beer. Smells like booze. Tastes like chocolate booze. Surprisingly incredibly smooth. This will be something indescribable after 5 years of aging.
Malt forward. Biscuity with a little caramel and then aftertaste of hops.
Booze, raisins, booze, molasses, booze, dark fruits, and maybe....booze?
Like a peach gummy ring. Very peachy, as it should be. It's a novelty bit still delicious.
Chocolate, coffee, fudge, and hazelnut. Tastes like an Italian dessert. Not sure why I only gave this a 4 last time.... I also think it's one of the few stouts that's better cold. It starts to lose some of its fudginess when it warms.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Dawson
Fudgey chocolate and coffee and booze. So smooth and rich and decadent.
Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Dawson
Up to a year aged - a little lighter, easier drinking, some nutty notes, maybe a little whiskey notes
about 3 years ago
Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Dawson
2 year aged - still a bit of bite, starting to get some cherry notes and a little more wood
about 3 years ago
Chocolate, chocolate, coffee, and chocolate. Nitro makes it so smooth.
Huge bitter and grapefruit notes balanced by a slightly more subtle malt backbone.
Smells like a good Belgian. Flavor hits you in the face with banana, then mellows into orange peel and finishes with sweet candy from the agave.

Where the Wild Hops Are Dawson
A good ipa with a little tickle of funky Brett. Musty and earthy meets bitter hops.
A little like a Shirley temple. Grenadine, a little booze, and light maple syrup. A little like cherry syrup so be prepared for sweetness.
Smells pretty malty. Flavor is a bitter more of just generically bitter hops and some toasted biscuit notes.
Definite pastry notes, almost like a chocolate donut in a way. A little thin and one sided for me.
Weirdly fruit and bubblegum notes like fruits fruitstripes gum AFTER it loses its flavor. Fairly bland overall but still no cat pee flavor, so it has that going for it!
2015, 6 year aged. Drinks like a barleywine or not sour fruit beer at this point. Basically tastes like a super sweet fruit drink or gummy candy. A little boozy but definitely not like it's 18%

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Dawson
Cinnamon, vanilla, and more cinnamon. I heard a description that it's like a churro dipped in mocha. This is accurate.
Cherry Bergamot Whiskey Sour Dawson
Definite alcohol notes on the nose, but almost more like vodka. Also some oak and citrus. Flavor is pretty light with alcohol, cherry, and lime. Not really a cocktail in a can, more like a cocktail spritzer. It does taste like a light whiskey sour though
almost 4 years ago
3 year aged. Super boozy, slight raisin past all the alcohol, a little bitter like orange pith, and pretty musty
almost 4 years ago
Starts out a little tart but quickly develops to more of a sweet maraschino flavor. Definitely tastes like cherries.
Dogfish Head Strawberry And Honeyberry Vodka Lemonade Dawson
Smells like a typical canned cocktail, vaguely sweet and sort of stale spirits. Flavor is refreshing lemon with some sweetener type flavor (must be the honeyberry) and some vodka at the end
almost 4 years ago
2017 vintage - basically just a hopped barleywine at this point. Date, raisin, caramel, brandy and booziness. Amazing.
Starts a little bitter then ends with malt, bread, and toffee.
Slightly dank, piney, citrusy, and a little sweet on the end. Very well balanced and an excellent evolution of flavor.
Bitter dark chocolate with a touch of brighter floral hops and finishing with chocolate malt.
Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Dawson
Aged 2 years. So sweet and mapley but not too much to handle.
1 year aged. Overwhelming coffee with a little chocolate, but not quite mocha. Not as boozy or bold a year old.
Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Dawson
Some "spicy" notes. Mostly dark(ish) chocolate, caramel, and some light coffee. Drinks pretty light.
Fruity notes on the nose but the flavor is more like a lager with more caramel.
Founders Nitro U.n.i.t.y. Cinnamon Coffee Stout Dawson
Like cinnamon coffee. A ton of chocolate and caramel malts on the end to the point that it's kind if bready. Very smooth.
Bitter dark chocolate and some darker hops. Sort of blurs the line between ipa and dark beer rather than marries the two.
Very refreshing. Full hop flavor of an ipa with the lightness of a lager. Doesn't stick around on the palette so very good for warm weather.
Mango, tropical, fruit, a little grass, and pine. Hits you up front then hits you again. Pretty developed flavor.
Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Dawson
Maple syrup, bourbon/caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, and a bit of sassafras (from aging?). Not too thick of a mouthfeel but still silky smooth.
Tastes like a sucker. Very syrupy sweet and a super thick mouthfeel. The fruit is mildly tart but mostly just sweet. Very little typical gose flavors or tequila.
2016 vintage. Absolute money. Vanilla and chocolate fudge notes on the notes. Flavor is thick chocolate, coffee, and light raspberry.
2014 vintage. Umami and soy sauce with chocolate and caramel
about 4 years ago
Dry, bitter, and hoppy. Not as sweet and boozy as some imperials.
Good maple notes on the nose. Flavor is smooth bourbon and a maple syrup finish. A little thin for the mouthfeel but super silky smooth.
Smoke and raspberry on the nose. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, smoke/roasty malts, and raspberries on the end
over 4 years ago
2017 vintage. So sweet and boozy. Almost a little like a barleywine but still with a good bit of hops. Good bit of burn on the lips.

Más Agave Premium Hard Seltzer Grapefruit Dawson
Not much flavor. I was expecting a little more kick from the grapefruit.
Más Agave Premium Hard Seltzer Lime Dawson
Basically like a session mas agave cocktail. Tons of agave flavor without being too syrupy. Lime and salt are good and refreshing.
Pretty tart! Lots of berry flavor with some honey too. Sort of like a mead mixed with a cider....but a beer.
Nice darkness for a milk stout. Definitely taste the lactose but no so much of the Graham cracker and cinnamon
