Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we've now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

Pretty much as advertised. So, so sweet. I got the boozy sweetness up front, transitioning into the vanilla before finishing on a lovely bourbon-y note with the vanilla still lingering. Any roasty notes that ever existed have aged out. Really tasty.

From the cellar. "Bottled on 08/01/2017 2327" Powerful, yet smooth.

Definitely as tasty as the day that it went into the bottle. Hints of vanilla and oak.

It does age well. Still bold and oaky with some vanilla to smooth it up. Thanks Dennis B. Guess I'll let mine age a while longer.

This is fucking great. Light on the vanilla but huge chocolate notes. Barrel isn't heavy either. 2nd Street Wine Co still has a few of these I think.

Found this in the back of my bottle fridge. A lot of depth and complexity. Happy find. Bottle date: 07.06.2017

Aged extremely well... Big, bold, rich, vanilla, smooth, roasty, boozy, port-like 🔥

3 years old, still boozy. A little syrupy. Vanilla is still strong.

Found this locally, a treat from their “aging” program. Nice vanilla and smoothness. Totally benefited from aging.

Was well sealed but this one was off. More age would not help this bottle. No rating for an anomaly.

Almost forget about this guy. Sweeter than expected with a light body. Exceptionally smooth with a hint of chocolate and easy to drink as 16% can possible be. Lovely.

Bottled 6/15/2017. Pairing with tiramisu. Oak/woody flavor dominates upfront giving way to vanilla and dark chocolate with a hint of 16% heat on the back side.
