Been a while for this one. Still a solidly punchy porter with dark chocolate and hints of graham cracker. A little nougatty. Smooth.

Great to see it circulating again. One of the original ‘big $’ beers for me. With all the legitimate competition these days, it has lost some of its luster. Good choco scent, solid coffee and maple flavor, but it seems more hidden than most Jackie O’s.

Just a little heavy on the spicing for me, but still very solid. Definitely need to give the fresher ‘22 edition a try.

4 1/2 years since being bottled. Surprised how much of the booze is still lingering here. Always a classic on a cold day.

Velvet Rush Haidet

Interesting one here. Had one when it was more fresh and loved it. This one was bottled 8/21. Still good, but lost a good amount of its sweetness from the first time I cracked one of these.

I’ve never liked ‘dry’ finishes, but this goes against the grain. Definitely get dry chocolate vibes, and there’s some mild vanilla sweetness in there, w/a little coffee bitterness. Giving an extra .25 for unique taste….. Would love to have again.

Really good & noticeably complex. Think I’d like it even more if they pulled back on the booze a smidge (can says 13%), but its got lots of great layers. Choco scent, nice caramel head & I even get buttery notes on the finish. Heavier vanilla would be a +

Been waiting to try this one. Definitely big on hazelnut. Rich, deep scent. Get the barrel-aging flavor very nicely. This one’s gonna be real good with some aging ….

Still as rich as I remember after a few years in the cellar, and still some booziness. Full-bodied, and the barrel-aging comes thru.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Haidet

Rich flavors. Good balance, with vanilla helping to balance out the cinnamon nicely. Not getting much of the coffee.

Velvet Rush Haidet

One of the best barrel-aged beers I’ve ever had. You can taste every different component of this one, and the finish isn’t too boozy. Excellent.

Aged this one 3 years, and glad I did. Great flavor with bourbon booziness mellowed out. Chocolate really comes through, but maple isn’t as prominent as an unaged bottle.
