30 AUGUST 2021 - For me this is just about the perfect balance of tart/sweet with some light to moderate acidity.

Lots of grape up front. Mild lemon in the middle. Very vinous with a lot of red wine, grape skins, and light musty/dusty funk in the finish. Similar to the 3 Fonteinen Druif Dornfelder I had last week with less lemon notes.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut (2021) W
Definitely better than regular Bruocsella. I would say it reminds me of the best bottles of regular Cantillon Gueuze I've had.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2020) W
23 (or 28) SEPTEMBER 2020 - More apple than the De Cam I just had that was aged on apples. Still great, but I've definitely had better bottles.

Bottled 05 JANUARY 2021 - For a less than year old bottle, this is approaching some pretty intense sourness. Most of the relatively fresh bottles I've had recently have been more "jammy" with a much lighter lemony sourness.

I'm initially worried by the strong cinnamon in the nose. Luckily it's not overdone like so many other beers. Chocolate up front. Mild vanilla in the background. Coffee & light-moderate cinnamon in the flavor. Vanilla gets slightly stronger as it warms.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) W
2nd or 3rd bottle from this year, but this is definitely less carbonated. Less cognac sweetness too.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°6 W
Floral, oak, and faint lemon aroma. Flavor is much lighter than any of the other Editions I've had. Light lemon, citrus, and apple skins up front. Light-moderate oak and mild funk in the finish. Tasty, but one of the more mild geuzes I've had.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2020) W
Less tart/sour lemon, more apple, and more woody than the Classic.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter W
Flavor seems more barley wine-ish than brown ale to me. Moderate caramel, ligtlht mint, orange peel, and cherry turns to light-moderate boozy bourbon in the finish.

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2021) W
Hands down the most explosive cork opening from a beer ever. 3F Golden Blend from 10 or so years ago is a distant 2nd.

20 APRIL 2020 - Such an amazing beer. It's up there with the best Cantillon produces. As well as this scores, it's still underrated. This is every bit as good or better than most harder to get bottles.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2020) W
7 JANUARY 2020-Sour/tart flavors have really increased. April 2020 bottle was more lightly sweet cherry w/ light lemon. This one is more tart cherry w/ more intense sour lemon. The April 2020 bottle I had in March 2021 was probably my personal prime.

26 NOVEMBER 2020 - Tons of grape on the nose with just a hint of funk. Grape definitely leads the way some light-moderate lemon, light funk, faint oak, and apple in the finish.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half "Deep Cut" W
Not sure how different this is from the regular Better Half, but both are great.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°5 W
Definitely drier and slightly more woody than the 2nd Edition from yesterday.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 31 Mono Blend W
Love the aroma...big funky/cheesy aroma with light lemon and oak. Flavor is similar, but it has a very mild apple sweetness.

Between this and 3 Fonteinen, I can't really decide which is better. Rating is the same, but price would break the tie in Cantillon's favor.

2 July 2020 - Always great, but the 27 August 2020 bottle I had recently was better. There was more sourness & funk in the August bottle and the July bottle has a very mild and almost cidery sweetness. 4.7 for the August bottle vs 4.3 for the July bottle.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2020) W
27-04-20 - Better than the Lou Pepe I had a few months ago. Tough call between this and the 3 Fonteinen I had a couple weeks ago. For now, I'm going to call Cantillon the winner.

At some point I'll do a side by side, but my initial impression is that this is a lighter version of CBS.

Not nearly as sour as the De Cam and definitely more funky and musty in the finish.

Funky lemon and apple tartness up front with a oaky/woody finish. There's just a hint of sweetness that I assume comes from the cognac barrel aging.

Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout (2020) W
Chocolate, caramel, & light molasses up front. Light-moderate charred oak, smoke, bourbon, & a hint of vanilla in the finish. Outstanding! Had a BA IS from them way back in the day at the Ypsi Summerfest (05/06???) & wondered why they never bottled it.

Tons of fudge/chocolate syrup throughout. Light-moderate maple syrup comes in the finish and mixes with some light coffee and mild bourbon. Very good, but the chocolate/fudge is a little too dominant for my preferences.

I'm not a Tequila fan, but this is better than I expected. Tequila is stronger in the nose than the flavor. Tequila is noticeable in the finish, but not overpowering and it cuts through the raspberry sweetness.

I don't get to properly use this glassware enough. Still my favorite "used to be shelfie" Cantillon. Incredibly delicious!
