Hvit (2023) van der P.

LCI @ BBF 2023, day 1. Now this is interesting. Suuper refreshing, very lemony. Gentle ginger notes, fairly sweet, soft, and light. Loads of flavour for how light it is, yet super balanced as well. It's quite weird, but I really like this stuff.

Strawberry O van der P.

LCI @ VMF 2023, day 1. This sounded very interesting. It tastes slightly less weird than it sounds, but very tasty nonetheless. Pretty sweet, loads of strawberry candy, some light tartness to avoid it being overly sticky. Surpisingly easy. Quite nice.

Black Baal 2.0 van der P.

Black, thick, fine tan head. Smells hoppy, bit grassy, some roast. Great smooth body, with a nice bite to it. Taste is a bit on the sweet side, but with a soft bitterness underneath. Only light roast, chocolate, with a clear scoop of hops. Grass, licorice

Krachtig Kanon van der P.

I was wondering how I'd like this now. Clear gold, with a fluffy white head. Smells cheap. Fairly light body, some decent carbonation, and a dose of alcohol. Flavourwise it's not terrible, but not that good either. Alcohol, metal, bittersweet, extracts.

Fou' Foune van der P.

As Foumosa (with orange juice). Smell is mostly Fou: funky, apricot, some orange, not super sweet. Light, easy, refreshing. Taste is between both: some sweetness from the OJ, some funk from the Fou, more oranges than apricots but both present. Breakfasty.

Dunkel Weizenbock van der P.

Leftover from cooking. Big pop, I missed those. Dark amber, creamy and thick head. Heavy sweet smell, lots of weizen banana going on, caramel. Soft mouthfeel, pleasant. Taste is sweet and more sweet, candy banana, caramel. Ends on a small roasty bitter.

Beer Geek Vanilla Shake (Whiskey Barrel Aged 2019) van der P.

Sample, bit older. Black, thick, flat. Big vanilla smell. Smooth body, some good boozyness going on here. Plenty of vanilla in the taste, some nice roast giving coffee, and a good dose of whiskey. Would have been better carbed, but definitely tasty still.

Mamouche (2020) van der P.

LCI @ WFG 2021.1, day 2. Still mostly a lambic, being woody, dry, fairly sour for a Belgian one. The elderflowers really add something, though, making it quite floral (duh), and maybe even a bit summery? Quite fun, very friendly. Hippielambic.

Menu Pineau (2019) van der P.

LCI @ WFG 2021.1, day 2. Ooh, now this is a nice one. Super smooth, and fairly sweet. Loads of sweet, soft, white wine flavours, but still remaining clearly a lambic. Lovely intensity in flavour, great balance. I'd like to drink more of this for sure!

Brabantiae van der P.

LCI @ WFG 2021.1, day 2. Interesting gueuze, it got all the characteristics of a regular one, but with some extra flavours on top. Seems more earthy, and some light grapeyness on there, while remaining dry. Plenty of wood, nice funk, bit leathery. Fun!

KBS van der P.

LCI @ WFG 2021.1, day 2. Another classic, but does feel slightly more safe and commercialised than the Parabola. Bourbon, plenty of coffee, some roast and lightly boozy. Could do with some more richness, maybe. Still pretty damn good beer, though.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2019) van der P.

Bottled 27 November 2019. Cork bubbled and then came out on its own. Deep red, high carbonation. Heavy cherry smell. Taste is nicely dry sour, with loads of sour cherries and their pits present. Some oakyness, not much funk. Classic and refreshing.

Beer Geek Waffle Breakfast van der P.

Black, nice and thick brown head. Smell is massive dry cinnamon, with a touch of maple behind it. Body is pretty watery. Taste is almost pure cinnamon, with something reminding me of chinese incense stores. Lots of bitterness. Not very pleasant.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2016) van der P.

Bottled 15 December 2016. Loud, jolly POP!. Nice amber colour, some lovely carbonation. Damn funky smell, heavy cheesyness, plenty of oak, hint of hay. Good carbonation in mouth, very mellow feel. Taste is funky, lightly sour, dry, french cheese rind. Yum

Rosé de Gambrinus (2019) van der P.

Bottled 11 december 2019. Soft pop only, gorgeous reddish colour with fine, pink foam. Smells buckets of raspberries, soft mouthfeel, light carbonation. Taste is lightly acidic, pretty woody, and super fruity. So much soft raspberry, not harsh at all.

George! van der P.

Oldschool Mikkeller stout, glad to finally try it. Pitch black, dark brown foam. Slightly chocolatey smell, with some coffee. Smooth mouthfeel, soft and creamy, but clearly heavy. Taste is very roasty, as it should be, with a good amount of coffee. Great.

KBS van der P.

2018 bottle, 12.3%. Not nearly as sharp as the previous bottle, but still not as great as it was fresh. Loads of coffee, turned the beer very bitter. Some bourbon, fairly alcoholic, low carbonation, and super dark chocolate. Bit unbalanced bitterness.

Frangelic Mountain Brown van der P.

Bottled 12.02.19. Smells hazelnutty and coffee. Soft, lightly creamy foam. Very smooth mouthfeel, exceptionally easy drinking. Taste is a great mix of coffee, and hazelnut, with the brown ale only supporting flavours, not getting in the way. Lovely.
