KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Emery
Blowtorch here. My primary job is the flamethrower so you know I like my things hot. The hotter the better is my motto. This 12% ABV barrel aged Coffee Imperial Stout was brewed with dried chilies. It’s not very spicy. The chilies were more smoky than 🥵.

Founders added a dose of Michigan blueberries to their bourbon barrel aged Coffee Stout. They did it to honor the beer’s 20th anniversary. It’s thick, chewy, roasted, and a little fruity with malt, chocolate, coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and blueberries

BOSS POUR! These were leftovers from Gose week. This Grand Rapids, Michigan Gose was brewed with pineapple (real or fake pineapple?) and sea salt. Lightly tart pineapple with malted wheat and a small pinch of salt. 🍍🧂

Cobra troopers here. We know this green zebra that’s on this can of watermelon Gose. That’s Big Z! He’s one of Cobra Commander’s exotic animals. Big Z is green because he wandered into the nuclear reactor. The can doesn’t show Big Z’s 7 legs & 2nd head.🦓

Gose Week. This is a Grand Rapids, Michigan Gose that was brewed with watermelon and sea salt. I’ve had this beer before and it was tart watermelon Jolly Rancher all the way. They’ve toned that down over the years. Tart watermelon with salty malted wheat.

This is your captain speaking. I picked up this 11.6% ABV bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout with coffee, chocolate, and cherry while I was on a short layover in "Furniture City" or Grand Rapids, Michigan. It’s somewhat thick with loads of roasted coffee.

Draft Belgian Lambic. Boon created a special blend for a kegged Lambic. It’s funky, but the funk is on the low side. It’s lightly funky with green apples, green grapes, oak, a hint of lemon, a few drops of vinegar, and a very mild barnyard funk finish.

According to my bio sheet, this beer is from my home state of Michigan. It’s an Imperial Stout that was brewed with hazelnut coffee and chocolate and then aged in bourbon barrels. No secret Cobra military bases will be built in my home state on my watch.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Emery
Imperial sssstout brewed with coffee, cinnamon, vanilla extract, & cocoa nibs & then aged in bourbon barrels. You may not know this, but this cobra loves all of those things. The coffee & the cinnamon makes the rats edible and the lizards even tastier. 🐍

Stout that was brewed with chocolate and raspberries. Mmmm…chocolate. With the exception of chocolate and this being a Stout, this beer sounds a lot like Raspberry Duff. This beer has a Canyonero sized sweet raspberry flavor with a splash of chocolate.

A classic Dutch Pilsner that’s straight outta Enschede, Netherlands. Another beer that everybody has had before, but I haven’t. Old school swing top bottle. Proper glass and proper glass box. It’s just bready malts with a peppery floral hop finish.🇳🇱

Ho Ho Ho! An IPA that is continuously hopped with more than 60 hop additions over a 60 minute boil. It’s a classic IPA. It’s moderately bitter with a boatload of pine, a hint of grapefruit, a splash of orange, and a lingering pine finish. 🌲🌲🌲

When I’m not fighting off sharks, getting caught in the arms of an octopus or finding pirate booty, I love a good Oktoberfest. I’m a scuba diver. You know I drink like a fish. Toasted caramel malts with a light floral hop bitterness. 🤿🦈🏴☠️

Mas Agave Clasica Lime 2021 Emery
Imperial Gose brewed with agave and sea salt and then aged in Tequila Barrels with added lime. I remember this being a lime 💣. It’s still very limey, but it’s not overwhelming. Sweet lime juice with lemon, agave, a pinch of salt, and a hint of tequila.

Non barrel aged Barleywine version. My nemesis is the evil Marty Mongoose. He’s always getting under my sssscales by sssstealing my tasty lizards and trying to bite my head off. It’s very bitter and roasted with malt, burnt toast, earthy hops, and pine.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek Boon (2018) Emery
As a cobra, I don’t know what sssschaarbeekse cherries are, but I do know that the Belgians don’t make a bird or a lizard flavored Lambic. It’s dry, tart, and moderately funky with plenty of tart cherries, a little oak, and a mild barnyard funky finish.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Emery
Oh yeah! That’s the stuff! I found the 2020 vintage on par with the 2019 vintage. A little boozy, but it doesn’t ruin the beer. It’s still nice & roasted with coffee, dark chocolate, malt, vanilla, oak, a hint of black cherry, & more than enough bourbon.

Barrel aged? Nope. Just an old ass 18% ABV Stout. Boozy? Oh yeah. Age did nothing to the booziness. Boozy and sweet with roasted malt, coffee, molasses, dark chocolate, black licorice, and a bunch of dark fruits like raisins, black cherries, and figs.
