Founders Oktoberfest (2021) Garrison
This is always a fantastic offering of the season, and a truly terrific example of the style! Malty, bready, w/notes of honey & black pepper. Prost!

A cafe mocha in beer form. Not really my style of beer, it’s too coffee forward. But I’ll pick up another bottle if I can for Teresa, as she loves coffee beers.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018) Garrison
A cellar dive tonight, & a fantastic one at that! Some of the maple syrup has faded a bit, but it’s still there, & more of the molasses, toffee, funk, stone fruit & roasted nuts shine through more now that the maple syrup has less of a pronounced role.

World Wide Stout (2020) Garrison
FLN. This is continuously one of the best non barrel-aged stouts produced. So malty, so roasty, so boozy, so delicious! Flavors of dark chocolate, dark bread, coffee & caramel dance & whirl in a decadent, bold, complex stout.

Also meh, which is really, really disappointing as I love Dogfish Head and really haven’t had a beer from them that was less that very good/great, but this is just...meh. Maybe my palate is all messed up so, I’ll pick up another bottle & try it again.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Garrison
A nice beer, roasty, malty, lots of fudge-like chocolate & coffee. Maybe a little too much coffee, but it is a breakfast stout, so there’s that. I don’t get much maple syrup, unfortunately, there much more in the CBS, but still it’s a nice, good beer.

This is nice, Dogfish Head! Definitely a beer, as I get the biscuity toasted malt notes, but thanks to the assertive ginger & vanilla, it’s got a cream ale-like vibe going on. Refreshing & tasty. I’m digging it. Make it an annual release Dogfish Head!

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Garrison
Cold, there’s lots of coffee in this bottle, overwhelming the maple syrup. As the beer warms up, the maple syrup starts to come through, adding some sweetness to balance out the bitterness of the coffee.

An absolute delicious example of the style. Smooth, malty, bready (straight up pretzels & biscuits) wilts of caramel-like sweetness. I’m going to be enjoying a lot of these (& other Oktoberfest beers) this season!

Aging has made this already outstanding beer even better. No hoppy bitterness at all, but lots of spice & Orange marmalade.

Imperial Stout (2016) Garrison
Not as delicious as it once was. While still very good, alas, time has not been as kind to this beer as it has other beers in my cellar. A lot of the rich, malty, roasty, velvety, chocolate & stone fruit have faded. Still, it’s quite delicious.
