Really interested now that it’s been aged nearly 7 years: it seems to have the body of barleywine now, which isn’t surprising given its ABV. Still some hop character, but now at this point the beauty of this one is the mouthfeel and rich character.

Ages well is an understatement! Layers upon layers of dark fruits, cinnamon clove, chocolate bark and raisin bread exploding into sweet caramel chews. So much cherry and it is very port-like at 5 years of age. Booziness is almost completely gone. Stellar

This one aged VERY well! Layers and layers of charred oak smoke and espresso with a leathery texture. Very mouth coating, as to be expected. Phenomenal complexity and very satisfying!

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Mercy
Amazing how well the maple syrup flavor is still there 4+ years later. Still awesome, but wouldn’t want to stretch this one more than a year from now. The bourbon bite is gone but all of the brown sugar and sweetness is still there.

After 3 years, definitely settled down a bit. Dark Chocolate is most predominate with some charred espresso of course. Getting some cinnamon clove and even a bit of very crispy bacon too. Probably coming from the burnt part. Not too sweet and very tasty!

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Mercy
The cellar is thinning of my pre-discontinuation stock. APPARENTLY they started remaking CBS this year?!?! Have yet to find it but you best believe I’m doing a side by side when I do!

Snowbound Vanilla Porter Mercy
WAY better than Breckenridge Porter! Smooth, subtle, nice vanilla.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Mercy
Back on DND Boyz campaign! Happy Stout Day! Maple syrup is still there 4 years later. Thin chocolate bark taste and cinnamon clove too. More bitter cocoa and charred oak flavors this year. Might hold a few more bottles next year!

Getting all 4 types of berries here: very full bodied with a dark richness I haven’t found in a fruited strong ale. Pleasant tartness, reminiscent of a port or a sherry. Beautiful beer!

Way too hot of a day for the end of October. Lucky I had one of these lying around.

French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022) Mercy
Not as mind-blowing as a few years ago (probably because it was on draft) but still very nice. Not overly sweet, cinnamon, maple, and bacon still very present without being overpowering.

Too much juniper. A good thing in a gin and tonic or even a Pilsner, just too much for this IPA.

Snowy Sunday calls for cracking this one at just over two years old. Not overly impressed: just a lot of leather, tobacco, and deep tannis. A little too bitter, but by no means bad. Maybe could have aged not as long?

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Mercy
A breakfast of champions calls for my last bottle of vintage KBS. Just a few weeks over 4 years old, certainly not improving but still good. Bourbon barrel is nearly gone. Lots of woodsy oak and dark chocolate. Touches of cinamon clove and allspice.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Mercy
Breakfast for dinner calls for yet another CBS from the cellar. Only really getting fudge brownie and cinnamon sugar with very little maple at this point. Definitely not getting better, but still very solid. Need to finish off the rest of the stash!

Nice crispy Pils. Some earthy crabgrass too, with fresh baked biscuits and a touch of clover honey. Very nice!

Really freakin’ tasty and crushable for a double! Getting all the grapefruit bite and sweet tropical lychee with a nice gooseberry bitterness. A nice east coast twist on a classic from Founders.

Great DIPA, down to the earthy hop bite and the sweet caramelled malts.

Not really that impressed. Just a lot of burnt espresso is all I’m getting. Let down from founders :/

Really nice BBA Scotch. I really like the French toast bastard better, but hey this ones good!

Hibiscus flower; dragonfruit; sliced pears; wild berries; hint of lime; tequila salt. Boozy, sweet and salty. Solid variant of Más Agave!
