HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2019) McLoughlin
Better than the bottle I had at home. Dusty and lemony.

Very tasty. Woody but high complexity. Hints of white burgundy. Plenty of whisky. Excellent.

So woody, spicy. Quite low acidity.

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles McLoughlin
Smell incredibly strong of pepper. Flavour more nuanced with the lambic mixed in, much better than expected. Still happy I shared 6 ways.

Oude Geuze Boon Vat 59 McLoughlin
Not one of my favourite VAT series. Oak is very dominant. No sign of the dusty Boon cheese.

Oude Geuze Boon Vat 122 McLoughlin
High carb, big foam on pour. Very oaky, pronounced bitterness. Low acidity. Not yet got the boon cheese.

June 2020 bottle. Really enjoyed the 2020 vintage. Lots of fruit flavour, rhubarb and a bit of raspberry. Medium carbonation.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) McLoughlin
Huge explosion, beer everywhere. Pours clear with floaties. Very soft, plenty of boon cheese now at 4 years. Extremely drinkable.

Oude Geuze Boon à L'Ancienne - Vat 86 Mono Blend McLoughlin
Classic boon gueze. Cheesy, oaky, damp. Carb and acidity low.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2018) McLoughlin
Nov 18 bottle. Still full of jammy fruit, little bit of funk poking through. Good acidity.

Absolutely delicious. The spicy dry hop notes meld beautifully with the base lambic.

Oude Geuze A L’Ancienne VAT 108bis Mono Blend McLoughlin
108 my favourite from this series. Nice boon cheese developing. Tight acidity yet rounded and drinkable. Could drink this all day.

August 19 bottle. Gave this batch a 5 in early 2020 when it was young and fresh. Pours crazy clear...hige orange deposit in bottle. More acidity. Fruity but less so, that yoplait saturation is gone. Nice but a shadow of fresh.

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2019) McLoughlin
An average geuze, not on the level of what 3F are putting out these days. Quite light, a little dustiness. Less complex than I would want for 3 years in bottle.

Oude Geuze Boon à L'Ancienne - Vat 86 Mono Blend McLoughlin

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 31 Mono Blend McLoughlin
Looks much better than first time. Nice and clear. Noticeable VA on nose initially. Becomes softer, earthy, wet oak. Soft acidity on palate. Very nutty. Plenty of wood. Better than previous but still a bit underwhelming.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 31 Mono Blend McLoughlin
Extremely mellow and rounded geuze. Oaky with noticeable bitterness. Doesn't have the boon "cheese" - more of a nutty characteristic. One of my least favourite from this series.

Saint Lamvinus (2019) McLoughlin
Delicious classic from Cantillon. Slightly tart, lots of grape flavour. Oak on the finish with slight funk. More grape lambic vs some of the wine/beer hybrids they've been putting out recently. Great spring garden sipper.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 79 Mono Blend McLoughlin
>6 years old. Smell of cheese, vanilla coke, apples. Soft, round. Acidity quite low. Sweet vanilla notes more prominent on palate. Dry funk on the finish. This has developed into a complex drinkable geuze. Drink it now.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2016-2017) McLoughlin
2020 bottling. Flat as a pancake lambic. Distinctive cantillon citrus funk. No carb allows a grainy flavour in too. Underrated cantillon.

Spontandoubleblueberry McLoughlin
Nose : blueberry, earthy, hint of vanilla. Taste: slightly tart initially, bruised blueberry in the middle and finishes with earthy lambic. Not too acidic. Not especially intense with fruit or funk.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) McLoughlin
Interesting bottle of MP. Very soft in its acidity. Already developing some very vintage flavours - cheesy funk. Boon lambic seems to mature very quickly. Slightly too much bitterness on the finish for me to be top tier.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2019) McLoughlin
Ages since I have had this. Versus the 3F raspberry beers this is less intense and less acidic. It's almost sweet in comparison. A pleasant and refreshing drink nonetheless.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2019) McLoughlin
Totally underrated bottle. The noble hops bring a spicy bitterness and floral character to the cantillon lambic. Plenty of cereal and mineral notes. Soft mouthfeel and light carbonation. Delicious.

Unmistakably cantillon. Funky, earthy lambic. Lemon edge. Rhubarb starting to fade. Subtle hints, raspberry edge. Will drink my 2020 bottles fresher.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2018) McLoughlin
Sweet maple, bitter chocolate and coffee, warming bourbon. Great balance of flavours in show. Thick mouthfeel as it should have. Good stuff.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 110 Mono Blend McLoughlin
Deep old look. Smell is old lambic - cheesy the best descriptor. Rich, slightly sweet. Mouthfeel very thick and smooth. Carb well judged. Taste of funk, fruity and earthy. Very complex and aged for 4 years in bottle.

Oude Geuze A L’Ancienne VAT 108bis Mono Blend McLoughlin
Beautiful pour, deep colour, huge head. Classic boon smell - brett heavy, old and dusty. Palate beautifully balanced between citrus and funky brett. Nice high carb, super dry. Absolutely excellent. I need to buy some more!
Dark brown, Dark foam. Thick legs on a swirl. Nose full of dark choc and coffee. Barrel easily detected. Sweeter than expected at first, vanilla and bourbon. The bitter flavours come in halfway through to dominate the finish. Very drinkable for abv.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2020) McLoughlin
April 20 bottle. Pours ruby red. Plenty of carbonation. Palate quite sweet, moderate cherry flavour. Refreshing but very low in intensity vs some 3F Kriek

Immense yoplait fruit notes on this. At its prime. Near perfection.

Drogone Lambic (2020) McLoughlin
Very well balanced grape lambic. Lots of power from the aglianco grapes. The tannins of the grapes are dominant and more than stand up to the lambic. Slight beaujolais bubblegum note. Plenty of woody barrel. Not a subtle beer, very good.

Curmudgeon's Better Half McLoughlin
Sweet bourbon maple juice. Not usually my thing but this is going down smooth. 24 months in bottle have helped this a lot.

Nice carb in this bottle. Golden colour. Delicate smell. Grapes, citrus. Very clean taste with perfumed grape coming through in mid and on finish. Acidity in check and full mouthfeel. Very nice but quite subtle.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 108 Mono Blend McLoughlin
Possibly my favourite of this series so far. Less of the oxidised and cheesy flavours. Lots of citrus flavours and brett heavy funk. Colour is a bright gold rather than the darker brown of other VATs. This reminds me of 3F OGV 14 release. Very tasty.

Soft and fruity raspberry lambic from cantillon. Nice low level funk.
