Quite earthy, but very sweet on the finish. A hop salad, not in a good way.

Utterly boring and one-dimensional brew. Candied lemons and a thin body.

Not the freshest can in the world, but fresher than what some shops in HK are selling. Juicy stone fruits with some dankness to ride it through.

I am sure this is better when fresh, but at 5 months+ it’s just an orange peel juice. Will not rate it.

LCI An absolute classic, this and Stone IPA are my go to West Coast American ipas, they never fail to deliver.

Very good single hop IPA. It has a medium body with smooth mouthfeel, flavour of nectarines and cantaloupes.

LCI more earthiness tan expected, the elderflower is pretty much gone. Still a good brew.

LCI It’s a bit more tarty than the one on draft. Still very good, but with less drinkability.

You get the merlot grapes as a tannic, earthy, musty addition to the lambic. A nice assamblage to bring together these two worlds, but not a personal favourite. I would have Vigneronne anytime before this.

This one was my favourite of the day. The sour cherries are great and deliver not only a well rounded tartness, but they are also floral and perfumey. Never had Schaarbeekse krieken on their own, but this bottle was indeed special.

CLAC! (Trois Cépages) (2019) C.
This one really hit the spot, more mellow than expected given the name and the way the guy behind the bar explained it (a major slap).

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie es Belge C.
This was the final bottle at the brewery, I remember it being well layered and fairly complex with some smokiness/earthiness on top of a tarty sour base.

The sherry wine barrel takes the lead for this one. It’s dank and intense, but it becomes more rounded as you drink along.

This was very oak and vanilla driven, great roundness and funkiness. Medium-low acetic acid on the back of the throat. It’s a stellar lineup and it delivers.

This one was my least favourite of the day. Felt it was too vinous and sour.

I got to catch up with my best friend after a 3 year year break. We went to Cantillon, these are the ratings as I recall them without any systematic note taking. The kumquat rind was very nice, great citrusy tartness. The second best beer of the day.

The 2022 edition. Vinous and earthy. Vanilla and oak from the barrel. Good, but a step down after Parasol.

A serendipitous stop cause the whole terrace was busy. The young lad behind the bar had no Cantillon (que?), but pulled this almost frozen bottle when I said “gueuze”. Ok, riesling-like petrol, low unripe quinces and pears. It drinks the same. Happy brew

I had the kriek 24 hours ago (the draft one which is special in itself for drinkabilty) and I think that one is slightly better. This is tarty and crispy, the framboises definitely add more tartness than the cherries, but that one was smoother than water.

Slightly vinous from the grapes, as expected, beautiful blend of honey-like esters, grainy malt, low tart and low funk. Delightful.

Lemony and unripe grapefruit on the nose with some barnyard funk. It drinks smooth, the sourness is there to bind the fruity characteristics present on the nose with a low grainy malt. It’s very refreshing on the finish, the bright citruses linger.

I used to have this quite a lot 7-8 years ago when it was available in cans and had a different label design. Piney and citrusy, clean and sessionable as it should be.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) C.
Going again for this one. As good as it was when I first had it. Plenty of cocoa, vanilla and minimum cinnamon. No flavour overpowers the other. Very good.

The classic KBS on steroi… errr coffeeoids. It’s roasty and intense with a dark chocolate finish. Great balance between the coffee, chocolate and the barrel. All of them are there, though the coffee✨Interesting twist to this classic, very enjoyable.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) C.
Have a croissant ready for this one. You can just spread this frothy and luscious cocoa filling on pastry for a delicious brekkie. Layers of cocoa, some hints of vanilla in a ganache-like concoction. It drinks smooth with min. carbonation. Min alc. heath.

2016, Missouri. This brew got me into craft beer. It used to be equally chocolaty, coffeeish and smooth with great bourbon undertones. I got older, had tones of great imperial stouts in between so perhaps I’ve outgrown it. Used to be great, now v. good. ♥

Had this one in a wine fridge for almost 18 months. Molasses and burnt sugar, heat takes over only for the aftertaste. Pleasant to have it with a spicy salad bowl. Less chocolate-driven than YM’s spicy Hak Mo Sheung
