Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2012) Griffin

Drinking beautifully. Vinous, musty, lemony. Soft, with restrained tartness and some drying tannins on the finish. Oak character really beginning to blossom, with the age adding such a nice layered complexity.

Racine (2023) Griffin

Intriguing complexity to this beer. Dry, peppery, citrusy, & herbaceous on the nose. W/ time, an ammoniated funk quietly comes forward. Palate contrasting w/ white wine, hints of stone fruit & lime zest to further layer the experience w/ a punch of fruit.

Kriek 100% Lambic 2024 Griffin

Beautiful contrast between nose/palate; spiced cherries on the nose. Palate more acidic; low carb, pleasant tartness. Medium dryness. An absolute classic.

Geuze (2024) Griffin

A great side-by-side w/ the single barrel Lambic: really highlighted the importance & impact that blending 1,2, & 3 year threads has on final product (& of course secondary fermentation). Distinctly softer; dry white wine, stone fruit, subtle musty funk.

Single Barrel 18 Month Lambic Griffin

As expected, hardly any carbonation to this. It’s dry, with a pretty aggressive acidity. There’s mild funk and noticeable citrus notes. Very cool experience to try this straight from the barrel, but the small pour we were given was plenty.

Iris (2023) Griffin

Balance of fruit & funk. Cherry pits, oak, and heavy acid. Floral, musty on the nose with time. Finish on the shorter end, with some lingering dry bitterness on the tail. Low carbonation. Solid.

Lambic D’Aunis (2023) Griffin

This was superb. Layered acidity balanced with floral, herbal aromatics. Vinous fruit and touch of funk characterize the palate, finishing a touch dry.

Sophia Lambic (2023) Griffin

The complexity to this was so subtle and delicate. A touch of earthiness contrasted bright fruit and drying tannin. A soft carbonation helped to mellow the funk, and create a beautiful balance of white wine and damp hay.

Le Plaisir (2023) Griffin

A great profile that never punches too hard… citrusy, peppery, and just mildly funky. Fairly pale, with noticeable hoppy resin and subtle residual bitterness.

Kriek 100% Lambic 2024 Griffin

Punchy sweetness, very approachable. Finishes dry, tart, and tannic. The cherry is very present, and is balanced by oaky undertones.

Saint Lamvinus (2023) Griffin

Surprisingly restrained; vinous, mildly funky grapes with soft carbonation and fairly low acidity. Dangerously approachable, and so delicate.

Citrusy funk, balanced must. Deep complexity; cheesy undertones on the nose. Dry, funky brilliance. Tart but not puckering. Beautifully delicate.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Griffin

Straight maple fudge on the nose. Palate is good; predominantly sweet with notes of baker’s chocolate, toffee brittle, and a boozy warmth throughout. Pretty balanced, but could use some more body.

KBS Espresso (2019) Griffin

Unfortunately time hasn’t done this well. There’s a good roasty sweetness on the nose, but the palate has started to see green pepper peek through. Not gone yet, but the booze and espresso bitterness together prove to be a bit heavy. Does well to warm.

120 Minute IPA (2018) Griffin

Aged so well. Too sweet for my palate, but can’t deny how it’s drinking. Drenched in hops, with balanced malt sweetness and boozy warmth throughout. Always a pleasure.

Vibrant P'ocean Griffin

Refreshing & crushable. Tart, jammy. Cherry pits and red berries, with a lightly salty quality throughout. Way more solid than the average rating suggests.
