World Wide Stout (2023) Connell

Back in my day, this was 18%. This 15.5% vintage still does the job. Boozy, coffee, roasty, sweet, surprisingly smooth, and maybe just a touch of red wine. I need to remember to pick this up wherever I see it. This was a single. 4.5 to 4.75. Great beer!

Stay In Stout Connell

"Imperial Stout with chocolate, hazelnut flavored coffee & fudge flavored coffee aged in Bourbon Barrels". Very thin, light coffee, light chocolate. I don't get the barrel. Too light and not enough flavor. Decent beer, but could be better.

KBS Blueberry Connell

No blueberry smell which is a surprise. Definitely get the blueberry taste. Tart, coffee, hidden booze. Doesn't taste like a KBS. Good beer.

Chocolate Cherry KBS Connell

I definitely smell the cherry. Don't really taste it though. That's OK. From there it's basically KBS which is just fine. Coffee, boozy, sweet.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Connell

Back in 2019, Founders "didn't plan to make CBS" anymore. Tough to believe since it's their highest rated beer. I'm glad they changed their plans. 2023's is a great as I remember. Sweet, maple syrup, coffee, boozy. Greatness continues!

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA (2023) Connell

The loveliness of this beer warms my heart. Boozy, caramelly, full, smooth. Enjoyable burn on the back. Great beer!

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA Connell

Bucket lister! 120 Minute IPA aged in Utopias barrels! Boozy, sweet, caramelly, smooth. Like the standard 120 Minute, but sweeter. A great one!

Sweet Repute Connell

French Toast Bastard Connell

It's been awhile, but I really like Backwoods Bastard. I'll have to have it again, but I prefer that to this. I need to avoid "French toast" beers. The addition of maple & cinnamon is a bit of a mess. The booze is nice but not redeeming. Thin for a heavy.

Wake Up World Wide Stout (2022) Connell

"Light" version of the first take. Breakfast version of the OG. I had not heard of this until recently. Coffee/maple syrup/thin/boozy. Great beer! A little thicker & it would be even better. This better not have caffeine in it or I'll be up all night.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2022) Connell

Yo, I didn't know they brewed this again. Out of the loop. Bottled 8/9/22. Sold in singles at Nespors. Very coffee in the KBS tradition, light maple, nice amount of chocolate. Black coffee aftertaste. Nice booze, a little thin. A nice Thursday night beer.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Connell

For me, the OG. It's lost its place among the best, but it's still a great beer. Heavy coffee, heavy chocolate, lovely booze. Roasty finish. Better as it warms. Bottled on 6/14/22.

60 Minute IPA Connell

About what I remember. Some sweetness. A bit more bitter than sweet. Kinda like losing two basketball games by a fairly wide margin in KC. Sweet to play, bitter to lose. Tomorrow is another day.

120 Minute IPA (2022) Connell

Imperial "double" IPA. An annual favorite. Caramelly sweetness. Nice and full. Some bitterness in the back, but smooths out after a mouthcoating or two. Love the booze.

KBS Hazelnut Connell

Imperial stout. Tastes of hazelnut, coffee, and light chocolate. These tastes are pretty thin and fade pretty quickly. Boozy and the booze lingers. This is perhaps the worst KBS variant I've had, Mackinaw fudge being the best. Not bad, not great.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Connell

Utopias Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout (2021) by Dogfish Head. Imperial stout combo involving two of my favorite beers. Extremely boozy and deceptively smooth. Not sure I get Utopias, but it's still great. Peace out, 2021!

All Day Vacay Connell

Session wheat ale. It's been awhile since I've had the standard. This one is light, some sweetness, a little citrus, smooth. What is that taste? Sprite? Wine cooler? Would be great for a summer day.

Velvet Rush (2021) Connell

Velvet Rush (2021) by Founders. Barrel aged imperial brown ale. I had a taster at Founders. Now the bottle. Light, smooth, coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Great taste, but thin. Reminds me of something from my youth I just can't place. Good, but great.

Tailgate Lager Connell

Tailgate Lager by Founders. Lager brewed with Chinook and Centennial then dry hopped with Simcoe and Amarillo hops. Tough to judge as it's wrong order. I didn't know the 2nd "free" beer would be offered. No score to be fair.

Mas Agave Prickly Pear by Founders. Imperial sour gose brewed with agave and sea salt then aged in tequila barrels. Really good. More sweet and tart than sour. Reminds me of a Wisconsin Belgian Red. I've really enjoyed the Mas Agave line.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Connell

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge by Founders. Glad this imperial stout was distributed here. The chocolate fudge is evident from the jump. It's sweet, but the coffee and maple syrup presence is light. A little more thickness and it would be near perfection!

Más Agave Grapefruit (2020) Connell

Mas Agave Grapefruit (2020) by Founders. "Gose Style Ale Brewed With Grapefruit and Agave Aged in Tequila Barrels". The grapefruit variant is just as good as the lime version. I don't taste grapefruit at all. Nice, sweet, heavy, beer. Like a margarita.
