French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Strong notes of maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon. Reminds me of BK's cinnamon sticks. This is really good.

A tinge of booziness out front trails off into smooth pancake syrup. Vanilla sweetness lingers on the finish. A great sipper on a brisk night.

Mouthwatering nose, it is spot-on French toast. It’s sweet but hits the mark. Barleywine was a great base for this, though not sure how well it’d age given the adjuncts. Delicious desserty nightcap

Very sweet, wouldn't want more than a 10oz pour I think, but this would be a great campfire beer.

Just finished “Lady Ballers” on The Daily Wire. Made the absurd seem…..all the more absurd. I think they covered it all.

So rich and sweet - maple syrup, vanilla, bourbon - boozy and warming - 12 ounces split 3 ways just about right.

Can’t sleep, at 11% this should help. Never ceases to amaze how brewers can nail complex flavors-in this case french toast. It’s all there-vanilla, cinnamon, maple, warm bread, with a splash of bourbon. It’s not very sweet and a bit boozy. Impressed.

Well done, smooth, good flavors of French toast, maple and vanilla, surprisingly not too sweet and very drinkable, a little boozy. I'd have again.
