Backwoods Bastard (2017)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Interessant øl med klar smag af whiskey tønde og whiskey-lignende bitterhed. Let boozy, kortvarig sødme og let vanilje som hurtigt aftager.

Still has the rich malt and liquor heat but light tartness and phenols. Barrel still there but thinning out. Drink at almost room temp.

The warriors of time offer us much. They don’t represent what we know and what we expect but where we can go and how much we can obtain. The vigor has left the body but the bones remain, a valiant fighter finally calls his sleep.

Wow! Father Time has done wonders for this beer. Previously I thought this finished with a sharp taste, but no longer. Very smooth and tastes fantastic.

Fantastic. The bourbon barrel aging brings a sherry-like taste impression

Hmmm, not bad. It's gone kinda raisiny/licorice five years hence, malts pushing over the peat a bit. Pretty tasty profile still. Was this a Jason bottle? Hmm, he has 7 checkins to my 0...yep...thanks Jason! 😁🍻

Esperaba más. Bourbon sigue muy marcado, pero la base se ha apagado y se siente bastante plana. Mucho sólido en la botella.

good! honestly the best way for me to work into darker beers is the cellared ones. mild now due to age but a nice roasty finish.

Ret speciel. Boozy, smagfuld og med ret meget syre - svært at beskrive. Og måske den ville falde i bedre jord en anden dag

Aged almost exactly 5 years to the day. Strong aroma. Past it’s prime. Aged too long. Good amount of character has fallen off, including the barrel. Aged 5 years mellowed this beer out and then some.
