This would be much better as the last beer of the night.

Last day of spring break and celebrating Easter. Doing it right.

I've always said that barleywine is my nemesis…this confirms it, it's so rich and boozy, but enjoyable

Sweet malty aroma. Taste has caramel notes, hoppy bitterness and semisweet, slightly roasty malts. Medium-full body with a lower amount of carbonation. It's pretty good right now, and I'll drink one more, but the other 2 are going in the cellar. 3.75/5

It’s weird. Roasty malts with very little sweetness and some mildly bitter hops on the end.

Big and bold. In your face hops with a big roasted malt body. Like a super charged black IPA. Curious to see what some time will do to it.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had this beer, I always crave a nice barley wine in the colder months, this is lighter in body than I’d like but it still has some nice biscuity malt notes and easy drinking for 11%

So this is a beer that ranks in the “good” range fresh and “insanity” once it ages. My advice - buy some, lose it for 4-5 years and future you will thank last drunk you for the wonderful thought.

No Bells’ old coast old ale but at least these unindependent bastards tried a stab. New glarus’ turn I stank, ain’t bottled a barleywine statewide since thumbprints were unplugged correct?

Gonna let the other 3 cellar for about 6-12 months. A little green.

More roasty than other barleywines. Big hops, nice malt.

Pleasantly surprised. Toasty, malty sweetness followed by a nice bitterness that really rounds out. Strong but doesn’t seem boozy to me.

Earthy and light pine hoppyness with a sweet, roasted malty backbone while not being overly boozy.

This is definitely an American Barleywine! It starts out malty, sweet, molasses & caramel for a moment, but is quickly replaced by a very piney hoppy flavor that lingers and lingers. I personally prefer the malty ones. But this is ok too.

Wishing they had brought the wheat wine variant from ‘09 back.

Hummm not the barley wine I’m used to. A lot going on in one spot ! Yeah that’s hard to get down lol

Definitely a founders. Definitely not a barleywine, probably why they label it "barleywine-style"

BW con roasted malts y muchísimo amargor. Sería American Dark BW? No suena muy bien. Y además muy alcohólica. Costó terminarla.

I retract my initial rating, after struggling thru a 4 pack. This is the worst beer I've ever had from Founders, lame!
