World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged Coleman

Trying next to Wake Up, Utopias, BB version. 4.33 years later & this is super smooth now. Boozy chocolate smooth bourbon coffee. It's equal to Utopias. Ages very very well.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Coleman

Trying next to Wake Up, Utopias, BB version. I agree w/ everything I said before, but wouldn't say it's quite a 5, despite the uniqueness. But it's fucking good!

Wake Up World Wide Stout Coleman

Trying next to Wake Up, Utopias, BB version. Agree w/ everything I said last time. Would be much better w/out cinnamon. Also, after taking another sip of reg WW, it now tastes super fruity & sweet in comparison. So wasn't drunk, my palate was just unclean

World Wide Stout (2023) Coleman

Trying next to Wake Up, Utopias, BB version. Not nearly as different tasting as I made it sound. There is chocolate & coffee & booze. But there is a little more fruitiness. I must have been very drunk when I had the first one. It's way better than a 3.25.

CBS is back! Finally! Hopefully they make more next year. Only a limited release here in PA. Smooth coffee maple bourbon chocolate. Keep it up Founders! Make more next year.

World Wide Stout (2023) Coleman

Tastes very different from before. Used to be boozy chocolate coffee, dark molasses, licorice & slightly hoppy. This has no coffee or licorice or boozy. It's very fruity, cherry apple orange molasses is the most prominent flavors. A flavor downgrade to me

Porter Coleman

Having this next to the vanilla version. This is roasty coffee chocolate, w/ a slightly hoppy piney finish. Vanilla is smooth w/ little hoppiness & roastiness & lots of vanilla. Vanilla is a little better than reg.

Snowbound Vanilla Porter Coleman

Having this next to the regular version. Regular is roasty coffee chocolate, w/ a slightly hoppy piney finish. Vanilla is smooth w/ little hoppiness & roastiness & lots of vanilla. Vanilla is a little better than reg.

The Headless Gourdsman Coleman

Ugh, this beer isn't as good as it should be. Sweet maple bourbon & vanilla. Boozy in a good way. Molasses caramel....BUT the spices are WAY too strong! Strong spice smell & taste. Nutmeg, cinnamon & clove. It should be a 4.5-.75, but is a 3.75 too spicy.

Yep, I agree with what I said last time! Still WAY better than all the KBS variants. But regular KBS is still best. But still.....Bring back CBS Founders!

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Coleman

Darn, I think this might actually be 4.5. it's more bland than Coffee Ralphius & Cafe Deth. Yeah, 4.75 Cafe Deth is more coffee than Coffee Ralphius, but Coffee Ralphius is more chocolate, & KBS is more bland. KBS is 4.5.

Sweet Repute Coleman

Don't hate it, but think I would like it better w/out maple. Has a butterscotch citrusy hoppy flavor overall. I don't get bourbon, but Bourbon normally adds vanilla, & I think that, combined with the maple & wheat wine flavors it results in butterscotch.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Coleman

I miss CBS. It's way better than any of the KBS variants they've released. I'm surprised they didn't just rebrand this beer as a KBS variant. The bourbon has died down over the years & coffee is more prominent now. Still better than all the KBS variants.

French Toast Bastard Coleman

Ugh. Why do brewers do this. Maple is WAY too intense! I can't taste the base beer anymore. Bourbon is almost undetectable. I keep trying alt versions of my fav beers hoping for SUBTLE added flavors. But it rarely happens. Not BAD, but could be better.

Wake Up World Wide Stout Coleman

The maple, cinnamon & coffee hide the booze a little better than the base WW Stout. But I'd rather not have any cinnamon at all. The bite of the alcohol is just replaced with a bite of cinnamon & I prefer the boozy bite. The maple & coffee are nice though

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Coleman

Yeah, this beer doesn't get better with aging. 2018 wasn't all that good, 2019 isn't either, but better than 2018. It's difficult to explain. 2019 is more smooth & chocolate/coffee, less bourbon. 2022 is opposite, bourbon 1st.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Coleman

Hm, aging has not been kind to this. When it started fizzing over the top after popping the cap, I was worried. It's not bad, it's still pretty good. But I taste a tartness which the 2022 version doesn't have. It's probably infected so I'm not rating it.

Forgot to check this in last Saturday! Still like the OG KBS the most. But I like this a little more than most variants. It's less sweet than others. It's KBS but slightly nutty.

Backwoods Bastard Coleman

This time I notice a smokiness in the smell & flavor that I didn't notice before. It tastes more like a peaty scotch than it does bourbon as a result. & a dry woody smell/flavor too. While I notice more complexity this time, I don't think it's a 4.75.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Coleman

Yeah. Beers like Cycle's R2 & 8Year, & Hoppin Frog's 5x DORIS, definitely have some unique burnt/smokey flavors that you can't find in shorter aged BB stouts, but the balance of flavors just isn't as good/smooth as beers like KBS & Bourbon County.

Pleasantly surprised. There is tangy cherry (not tart or sour, a plus), vanilla from the bourbon, & some maple. All flavors are pleasantly balanced and none are overwhelming. Nice.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Coleman

Yeah. It's like I said last time. It's like drinking a smoother, less boozy (but still boozy), sweet fruity cognac. But with stout like, bitter dark chocolate flavors balanced sooo delightfully well. It's so weird & unique, I can't help but give it a 5.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Coleman

I said before that Mocha Ralphius was better. That's not true. They're the same quality, but different taste. Ralph is smoother, more roasty coffee chocolate, while KBS is more bourbon, chocolate, then coffee. I like less smooth sometimes. This is why.

Velvet Rush Coleman

I haven't liked many of Founders recent Barrel Series beers. They've been too sweet. Was worried this would be as well because it had a very strong chocolate smell. But the taste is much more coffee forward. It's actually balanced pretty well!

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Coleman

I was worried this was going to be just as sweet as the fudge version of KBS. But it's not! It is more sweet & chocolate/vanilla than reg KBS w/ a hint of cinnamon. But not excessively sweet. But the bourbon & coffee is weaker.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Coleman

Oh snap! They're were 3 cases just sitting at Wegmans! Score! Very similar to BB version. Chocolate vanilla caramel molasses & boozy. But there's also a fruity cognac flavor to it. I normally dock for being so boozy, but the flavors are so good it's a 5.

I was a little afraid to try this since it's made exclusively with tart cherries & I normally only like sweet cherries. But this isn't sour or tart at all! It's more tangy! It's very sweet & lots of cherry flavor. Pretty good.

Breakfast Stout Coleman

This used to taste super chocolate/coffee. Now I taste noticeable piney & slightly citrus hops as well. I think it's because I had coffee for the 1st time last year & can now differentiate what I used to think was coffee from "roasty" hops/chocolate malt.

Very good as usual. Strong & pleasant bourbon & vanilla flavor upfront. Smooth & sweet. Malty flavors.... not quite molasses or caramel, but more like a rum flavor or brown sugar. So goooooood!

Panther Cub (2021) Coleman

After 10 months I finally smell & taste a significant amount of bourbon. But only when it's cold? As it warms it goes back to too much maple/vanilla. But the bourbon comes in stronger than it did before even when warm. So aged & cold for best flavor!

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Coleman

Yep. Having this next to Supermassive, it confirms that Supermassive is a much better bourbon coffee stout! KBS's smell isn't nearly as good. The coffee flavor isn't as good. And the bourbon isn't as noticeable/balanced.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Coleman

Don't know what to think now! I feel the opposite of last time! Taste mostly chocolate at 1st! Then a balanced coffee & bourbon flavor. But coffee does start to significantly increase as it warms. Maybe that's the difference. Not 5 but better than before.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Coleman

My palate is getting more sophisticated, or they changed the recipe, or I don't like coffee stouts as much as I used to. Coffee upfront that's more prominent than I remember, followed by equal parts chocolate & bourbon. Really good, but not a 5.

What a pleasant surprise! It's sweet & raspberry but is tangy instead of tart/sour, which rarely happens when raspberries are used. It's also smooth. It sits along side cherry wheat as a fruit beer I actually like!

Panther Cub (2021) Coleman

I still stand by what I said last time. It's just too sweet. But I do notice vanilla this time. Is it from the bourbon? Or the vanilla extract? Can't tell. But the boozier CBS is better balanced from the noticeable bourbon.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Coleman

Having next to reg KBS & Espresso. Espresso is KBS w/ extra coffee & is similar to Java Cask & Big Bad Baptist. Fudge is KBS but very sweet chocolate/maple/fudge. The fudgey flavor overwhelms & the bourbon & coffee is barely noticeable at the end.

Having w/ KBS Espresso & Maple Mackinac Fudge. Think I need to reassess what a 5 is. I liked the Baptist Reserve I had last night a little more but gave it a 4.75. So I guess I have to do some soul searching to find my inner truth. Or something like that.

Nemesis (2021) Coleman

This is definitely an American Barleywine! It starts out malty, sweet, molasses & caramel for a moment, but is quickly replaced by a very piney hoppy flavor that lingers and lingers. I personally prefer the malty ones. But this is ok too.

Panther Cub (2021) Coleman

Can't really taste any bourbon. Maple syrup is very strong. CBC is a better maple bourbon stout. CBC's maple flavor isn't weaker, but the boozy bourbon is stronger, so it's better balanced. This is just too sweet. It's like a less thick pastry stout.

World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged Coleman

W/ reg World Wide. Bottled 11/2019. Tastes vanilla/bourbon & less choco/molasses/licorice, no hoppy. BUT, is MUCH more boozy! I assume because of the BB. Def not for those sensitive to alcohol. Overall, I like it more because of the absence of licorice.

Swear I had this, guess was before I got Untappd & never put in notes. Bottled on 4/2019, bought 2 months ago. Tried w/ BB version. Tastes chocolate/coffee up front, then boozy hoppy licorice. Like Hoppin Frog's Qoris but less thick/licorice & more boozy.

120 Minute IPA Coleman

Compare to 60 & 90. Most malty/sweet. Crosses over to American Barleywine territory. Molasses/caramel of 90 is replaced by syrupy orange. Pine/hops at end in a "hops covered in syrup" way. Like California Barleywine but more boozy & hoppy. Must compare.

90 Minute Imperial IPA Coleman

Comparing to 60 & 120. This is obviously in between on the sweet malty flavors. The citrus & pine of 60 are reduced w/ some molasses/caramel like flavors added. The pine/citrus is mostly at the end. 120 has no molasses/caramel, but orange instead. Weird.

Comparing to 90 & 120. This is (obviously) the most piney & acidic citrus of the bunch. They all are citrusy, but this is more lemon than orange. Probably from the more piney flavors.

Ugh! Too much raspberry! Why do so many beers with fruit have to be excessively fruity! I was hoping the chocolate would keep the raspberry at bay, but it didn't. A slight hint of fruit is all you need!

Tastes like a peanut butter cup?! I had beers w/ cocoa nibs, vanilla, & coffee I like. Friends of Prey had those ingredients + PB, was a wheatwine & was excessively PB. Maybe those ingredients plus that style or golden ale just tastes that way to me? Yuck

My can says 11% abv. Vanilla shake is definitely the right name for this beer! Thick, extreme vanilla flavor, milk chocolate, then only a hint of roasty coffee & alcohol. Thankfully I've always thought vanilla went great w/ stouts, otherwise I'd hate it.
