Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Vanilla dessert. This has been sitting in my basement for the last 4.5 years. Delicious.

By now the booziness has mellowed out. Very heavy on the coffee notes, slightly bitter finish. IMO CBS definitely ages better.

Five years didn’t hurt the typically nice flavors. The nose was very strong after the pour but waned. Slight burn was a little more present, but overall it was super smooth and a little thinner and easy to take in large, delicious swigs.

Seemingly lost any guts at first open. Let it warm and there was a bit of fudge and booze to it. Oddly lost any barrel characteristics and played catch up from the start

Bottled 2/23/2017, 11.8%, now over 5 years old. Vertical with 2016. The two taste pretty similar. The 2016 seems to have more coffee and more bitterness. 2017 a touch more carbonation and balance. Bourbon spice prominent, with coffee more than choc.

Vertical 2016-2019 from the cellar. Pretty similar. Older two are more woody, less carbonated. Newer two have more chocolate flavor. All are pretty heavy on coffee & bourbon flavor, though it tastes different depending on the wood/chocolate combination.

Darkly roasted malt character! Notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel undertone of okey bourbon undertone ! Pretty sweet with a slight! Smooth, soft, , light, full, rich, creamy! Very drinkable and tasty! Cheers!

The coffee has turned to peppers for the most part. Still get some chocolate. Not bad at all.

Lots of carb left. Compared to the 17 bcbs last night, this has faded hard. Light body. Bittersweet chocolate and espresso bean is up front. Vanilla oak and caramel on the dry finish. Lots of cocoa powder linger
