French Toast Bastard (2019)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Beautiful porter at the start. Finishes as straight up French toast. Super tasty.

Black Friday at K&G! Good lineup - this is a breakfast beer (really) light and smells of syrup

This is a big, lovely bastard. Taste the french toast but you know you are drinking it.

Aged a year. Smell and taste is perfect. Still a hair too sweet for me

Intense. Drenched maple syrup. Way too sweet at first, but some hop and malt nuances recovered my attention along the way. Thx Martin S.

Yes, tastes just it says - roasty with sweet flavours of maple and vanilla. Also malty and excessively boozy. Okay, but really too malty and sweet to really hit the “sweet spot” for me. Not something I could drink a whole bottle of.

Duft af sirup og lidt stout, lidt tynd smag af stout med næsten brændende sirup-sødme, tynd men lang eftersmag af samme.

Tastes exactly like french toast with maple syrup. Sweet, but not overly so. Hint of cinnamon. Combine with a good coffee stout and you would have a great (liquid) breakfast.

Cinnamon, baked fig, maple syrup, umami, vanilla, Cedar aromas, mbroad body, mhigh carb, plenty, dry cinnamon, earth, then maple galore, cough syrup, vanilla, leaves flavours. Fun ride that's only giving 'unbearable toothache' a swift side glance

Look at me checking in a beer! My taste buds are born again #virgin. Sweet. French toasty. And BURBON! An 11% too? Someone is getting lucky (if I don’t fall asleep).

God Damn! Tastes EXACTLY like a mouthful of french toast covered in grade-A Vermont maple syrup. No hint of the 11% ABV.

Delicious. Maple, cinnamon, vanilla. Perfect pairing with my Inferno Burger. And with Melly.

Wow... a lot to break down here... maple sugar sweetness, bourbon barrel booziness, and aged stout smoothness... yum... sweet breakfast in a glass!

The flavors are big on this one. The finish is a lil off but this is still a great representation. The vanilla and cinnamon come through big.

Boozy cinnamon sweetness with a definite french toast flavor that lingers. Super odd but tasty.

So sweet. Smells rich, like maple syrup. Cinnamon, vanilla notes. This lemon bundt cake cuts it just enough. The beer is good, just really sweet.
