French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022)

Scottish Ale

Backwards Bastard gets the full fledged breakfast treatment! Our malty and rich bourbon barrel-aged scotch ale is introduced to the essence of smooth Maple, warm cinnamon, and notes of sweet vanilla for an incredibly decadent brunch inspired sipper. One taste and you'd swear you were digging into your Sunday morning french toast. Breakfast for dinner anyone? What is something off my bottle

Definitely quite sweet, but it is what they say it is. Plus, despite the high abv, it's still fairly smooth.

12oz bottle. The nose and taste seemed a bit more artificial this year and more cinnamon & maple forward than ever. Also had some butterscotch notes. I like it, but last year’s was better. 4.18 adding bourbon to cut the cinnamon & sweetness.

Amazing. The always awesome bastard but sweetened up with the spot on French toast. Love it!

This a tasty variant of Backwoods Bastard, but the base will always be one of my favorite Founders beers, and this doesn't touch the OG, IMO. If interested, The Beer PaTroll YouTube review can be found here: https://youtu.be/rHNcbbdYW9Y

Good maple aroma but a little too much cinnamon for me.

I love this beer. Great maple and cinnamon flavor. Dangerously smooth. So delicious. If you see it stock up!

Damn. Maple syrup on the nose but not overpowering. Mouthfeel a lot of cinnamon but Then back to maple syrup on the finish with slight vanilla. Not overly sweet.

Nice body, just enough bourbon character without being boozy, very maple forward with a touch of cinnamon on the back end. I prefer the Backwoods Bastard, but nice showing here.

TAG

11.1% ABV BBA Scotch Ale. The flavors of maple, vanilla and cinnamon explode in a sweet treat with bourbon in the background. Could only drink one of these in a given night.

This year’s version tastes like the KBS base and the Dirty Bastard base with slight bourbon undertones and not slight buttery syrupy French toast. More simply stated, it’s delicious!
