Backwoods Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate. Distribution Note: Now available year-round beginning April of 2018.

Now this is another great Founders beer, thick boozy with bourbon notes, sweet malty backbone with a slight coconut vanilla tone, tealky

I have lived this oaky, vanilla-y, boozy bastard for years. A lot of bold flavors come through on this. It feels like it packs more punch than its abv

It drinks lighter than expected. Woody and strong. with dark fruit flavor over a heated base. Acidic towards the finish, but really just so tasty. Great beer.

Thoh, wat een aroma... Whisky, hout, chocoladesaus. Thoh, wat een smaak... thoh. Zo zacht, zoveel bourbon, zo'n rijkelijke smaken. Top.

Actually went quite well with Thai food. Like the malty Scotch overtones.

Here's to an amazing document from American history, the men who wrote and signed it, and all the men and women who have defended the country that came after. Thank you.

Late check-in from last night. Scotch-style ales aren’t typically my go-to beer for most occasions, so I can’t say that I’ve had too many of these before. With that said, this may be the best that I’ve had for that style. Founders rarely disappoints.
