World Wide Stout

Stout - Imperial / Double

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, rich, roasty and complex. This ageable ale clocks in at 15-20% ABV and has a depth more in line with a fine port than with a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer.

Wow- dunno if palate has changed or giant stouts have changed. This was kegged 4/19. It is very alcoholic, but very one-dimensional. Bummer.

This is good, for 18% not stupid. Sweet...to sweet as it warms.

A novelty beer. Great nose, but too sweet. Drink warm.

Bottle from April 2019. Lost the strong coffee bitter note but malt is still hiding. Going to age further and see if it changes.

Aged a long time. Not sure what year. 2016, maybe? Deep, rich beer, almost tasting like bourbon and cognac. Raisin and almost earthy notes, chocolate.

Another example of Jim Koch’s fucking up what was once an excellent brewery. This is much boozier than it was. Much thinner mouthfeel. Still has deep dark flavor. Dark fruit and dark chocolate notes.

Stong, the alcohol is the first, second and last thing you taste. Dark with a whisper prunes.

Pitch black with a thin head. Nice body. Slightly sweet plum/raisin scent. No bitterness. Notes of dark chocolate. Prominent alcohol burn really detracts from the experience.

Purchased November 2016. Very sweet and dark fruit heavy. Alcohol present for sure. Definitely an old school feel. The sweetness and leathery taste are kind of unusual. Drinks pretty smooth, but overall not something I want a lot of.

WWS on tap means it's a required dessert. As intense as ever! Definitely more bitter and harsh than bottle-aged. Still rich carob & prune nose and flavor. Still deceptively strong even with the harsh notes.
