Ordered it because it was a new (to me) DFH. Find out it’s a collab with Rodenbach! The off centered red ale that is part of this blend has some funky flavors. Don’t really compliment the Rodenbach (imho.) Don’t think the sumac is working in the blend.

Reminiscent of old Dogfish Head type of flavors. Lots of Grapefruit notes.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Champaigne
Another annual release I enjoy. Pours as thick as the mouthfeel is silky & smooth. This year the bourbon is more pronounced. Still has some tackiness from the maple syrup. Coffee & chocolate are not as strong as past years. Oak & vanilla come thru.

Didn’t realize I had had this one before. Pretty much the same two years ago.

Kind of mellow on the bitterness. Not overly hazy. Has the typical mouthfeel of a hazy IPA. More bitterness emerges on the back of the tongue. Mostly tropical citrus notes.

A tad heavy on the malt. Piney resin with some lighter fruit notes. A little boozy flavor with no alcohol burn.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Champaigne
Bourbon flavor has receded after a few years. Maple flavor has gotten stronger. Chocolate notes seem stronger. Defiantly improved with age.

Ultimate Oktoberfest Champaigne
BBA aroma is almost non-existent. While the flavor is not too strong, the BBA flavor overpowers the flavor of the beer and takes center stage. Flavor of the beer is almost completely lost. Honestly, we didn’t check the labels and missed that this is BBA.

Very authentic flavor. Aside from the extra sweetness from the blue agave nectar. A little boozy. Dark fruit notes with the malt flavors.

Nice peach flavor blends well with the other flavors from the hops. Decent bitterness.

Brewed with rolled oats, but not hazy at all. Crazy. Mild bitterness. Pine notes. Grapefruit pith in the background.

Mild bitterness. Strong malty flavor. Hops shine through. Grapefruit is the dominant. Pulling a little light resin in the back.

Where the Wild Hops Are Champaigne
Floral and fruity. Good bitterness. Aroma is a blend of orange and hops. Slightly drying on the back of the tongue.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek Boon Champaigne
Not a brewery. But a really good beer bar. Excellent cherry flavor. Tart and sour.

Roasted malt flavor. Slight caramel notes. Very wild woodsy flavor from the pale santo.

Chuck R. This is listed as 2021 as opposed to the one you checked in without a vintage. Almost a hard cream soda. Taste vanilla and very subtle bourbon. ABV very well cloaked.11%? Never guess. No booziness or alcohol burn. Malt is lost in other flavors

Geuze Boon Sélection Champaigne
Wonderfully sour and tart. Oak barrel flavor is very subtle, lingering in the back. Light, with a crisp clean mouthfeel.

Another example of Jim Koch’s fucking up what was once an excellent brewery. This is much boozier than it was. Much thinner mouthfeel. Still has deep dark flavor. Dark fruit and dark chocolate notes.

Salted peach IPA? Swing and a miss.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Champaigne
The maple syrup helps take the flavor of the bourbon.

Nicely hopped for a barleywine style ale. Dark, roasted malt flavor.

Big Luscious (2020) Champaigne
This would be awesome over ice cream. The flavor of the stout comes through the chocolate and strawberry. Excellent balance between the dark malt and the added ingredients.

120 Minute IPA (2019) Champaigne
This is much better than the 2006 and 2007 vintages I have had lately. It actually has some aspect of an IPA in flavor. But very malty. I stand by my assertion that this is MUCH better in tap than it is out of a bottle.
