What. A. Journey. Extraordinarily complex. I get lots of sherry/port aroma. Taste: bourbon spice/burn, eventually some caramel. Finish burns the gums and then swirls around for nearly five minutes. Not all that dark or thick. This is hard to rate...

Absolutely delicious. Rich and intense but still balanced. It was THE stout I had at VE

Amazing nose, hot start, but smooth finish.

This is something else! Actually like this better than BCBS. If this had a little more “coat the glass” viscosity I think it’d be a perfect 5/5 caps. Would certainly buy again, but next time I’d split it.

I can feel the Utopias beginning to course through my body. At 17.2% abv, anything could happen now....

This is like a BA barely wine aged to perfection. Raisin, malty, minimal chocolate, boozy barrel! I should have bought the utopias bottle when I had the chance!🤬🥵

Very good for such an extreme beer. Aroma is all booze until it warms up a little.

17.2% Barrel Aged Stout. Big Boy Stout here. ABV is NOT hidden! It would be hard to hide. Somewhat malty but the real thing you notice is a boozy barrel aged stout. Notice is probably too mild a word. It hits you in the mouth, hard! I liked it a lot!🍻

Very boozy. Considering this is 17%, you would think it would be even stronger. This may benefit from aging a few years.

Boozy but solid. Dark Chocolate taste lingers long but is tasty. Curious to see how it ages. Very smooth given the ABV

Whoa this is boozy. A little less when it warms. I think it would be better with some age on it.

Roasty, chocolatey, boozy aroma. Lots of malt and caramelized sugar on the palate with a big, woody, barrel aged finish.

Sweet and boozy! Utopias barrel aging front and center; whiskey flavor dominates and it is good! Chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste

That 17% hits. Still delicious. Has a slight licorice bitterness that was great.

I’d recognize the smell of Utopias anywhere, even if this was just aged in the same barrels. Deep, rich, nutty, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, with a surprisingly dry dark unsweetened chocolate finish. Fantastic First in BeerAdvocate’s extreme beer fest 2022!
