Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2019) Jenkinson

Sweetened up beautifully whilst still retaining much of its sour and funky character. That's a damn good beer.

Gueuze 03 April 2019 Jenkinson

It's that time of year where I do enjoy a refreshing lambic. This has lost much of its funk and has sweetened up, whilst retaining some lemon sour notes. Not sure I'd keep it until 2039 as for me it's perfect now. Lovely stuff.

Oude Geuze Boon (2018-2019) Jenkinson

Much better. Much more to my taste. Still great sour/tartness/sharpness, along with a wonderful grassy and slightly funky taste. There's a lovely sweetness, but a nice bitterness too to balance things out.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2016) Jenkinson

The tartness has all but disappeared, leaving a very smooth gueuze. Not as funky either as I might have expected. Very pleasant though.

Kriek Boon (2019) Jenkinson

Right, seems like the optimum age for these is three years, no more. It retains all the cherry flavour, plus a touch of the sharpness and a hint of sweetness. It's the closest I can think of to an actual cherry. Excellent stuff!

Kriek Mariage Parfait (2014) Jenkinson

Still retains some of the tartness and hasn't lost any fruit flavour. Nice stuff, even 8 years on.

Kriek Boon (2018) Jenkinson

Not bad. Sweetened up a fair bit over the last few years and lost any sourness it once had.

KBS Espresso (2021) Jenkinson

Decent coffee, but just a little sweet. That's fine if you happen to like your espresso with milk sugar rather than just plain black.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Jenkinson

Not bad. Very little noticeable booze. It's rather like a vanilla and cinnamon coffee.

Aquaticus Jenkinson

Last few days I've neglected my beer drinking in favour of spirits and seasonal or traditional drinks for New Year, but I really needed this. Very refreshing and tasty.

Framboise Boon (2018) Jenkinson

I realize it's the wrong glassware, but I can't get to my proper glass right now. Delicious raspberry with this. Not too sour. The age has really brought out the fruit and mellowed out the tartness.

Geuze Mariage Parfait Jenkinson

A welcome change from the IPAs. Need a break, at least until tomorrow. This geuze has all the usual things - it's tart, dry and a little funky, but there's more to it. There's a fruitiness, almost like apples, like an apple cider here. Very nice stuff!

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Jenkinson

I hate myself for opening this, but it was staring at me, daring me to drink it, and I'm so weak. I couldn't resist. Hope I can find somewhere that's still selling this to restock my fridge.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Jenkinson

This is Lervig's "Sippin' Into Darkness" in all but name. Aroma on opening is all chocolate. Taste is like an iced mocha from Starbucks. Cannot taste any booze. It's so smooth. And now I need to change my plans and buy as many of these as I can.

Kriek Mariage Parfait (2015) Jenkinson

I've stocked up on a lot of lambics, particularly krieks and gueuzes, over the last few months. They keep for years and are a sound investment for a rainy day. Or a Sunday night when you fancy something sweet to drink. Might end up opening a mead next...

Bit more oomph in this one, but still light and drinkable. Slightly tarter too.

Kriek Boon (2017) Jenkinson

Kriek night. Trying these two side by side for comparison. This is quite light and very easy drinking. Might as well have poured the whole bottle into a pint glass. I know it's not the culturally acceptable approach but this isn't going to last 5 minutes.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio Jenkinson

This is sharper and more complex than the Lindemans. Quite dry and tart. This one could benefit from being aged, which I shall likely do with the other I have. Nonetheless, this is fantastic!

Aged really nicely. Still plenty of funk but it's mellowed out beautifully.
