Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru (2017) B.

Lack of carb is not my jam, but funky and complex. Best to think of it like a weird wine.

Vigneronne (2022) B.

Very red wine-y.

Oude Geuze White Vermouth Foeders B.

I don't really taste any vermouthyness, but it's a fine gueuze (if a bit one note).

Vigneronne (2022) B.

Lucky store find! There's a lot of sweetness from the grapes, contrasted nicely with the acidity of the lambic. A bit boozy tasting. Very nice.

Rosé De Gambrinus (2022) B.

A bit too sour for my taste. I think the raspberries mask the complexity of the lambic.

Nath (2023) B.

My favorite fruited Cantillon.

Le Plaisir (2023) B.

Makeshift Zwanze day. The Brasserie has grown a lot since my visit a decade ago! The bar used to be a shack with barrel seats, now it’s an entire upstairs lounge. Delicate, minerally, fruity. Just the right amount of sour.

Gueuze (2021) B.

Lower funk than expected, kind of AWA-like.

Bruoscella 1900 Grand Cru (2022) B.

Very funky, woody bitterness. Bright fruity notes. Wish it had some carb, though.

Vin Santo 2022 B.

Light, effervescent, and almost ketchupy, but in a good way. (Sweet and sour in a great balance.)

Saint Lamvinus (2021) B.

Sweet grape well balanced with bitter, sour funk. Great stuff.

Fou’ Foune (2021) B.

Still feel the same way. Minerally and kind of too acidic for my taste. Wish there was more in-your-face apricot, but I think that's only if you try this very fresh.

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2021) B.

Sweet, almost pomegranate notes? Despite the blend, definitely tastes like a Boon gueuze (e.g. Vat series).

Mamouche (2020) B.

Lucky store find. Same comment as Mamouche 2019: tomato juice notes. Is this just what happens to the elderflower flavor as it gets older?

Reminded me of the most recent Nath a bit. Grape is present but not in abundance.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2019) B.

Not as intense as usual, almost drinks like an AWA. Fruity, mandarin notes.

Nath (2021) B.

Less funky/complex than I remember the 2020 being, but very nice rhubarb flavor.

Fou’ Foune (2021) B.

I keep trying Fou' Foune expecting something different, and every time I have similar thoughts: it's missing much of the Cantillon funk I enjoy, and the peach isn't as explosive as I'd like. This one is more like underripe peach — wish it was sweeter.

Brabantiae (2018) B.

K&L lottery winner. Tastes like oude gueuze with a winey undercurrent. Same color, lower carb. Cork was soaked, but flavor was not affected.

120 Minute IPA (2017) B.

4 years later! Definitely more of a barleywine character now, but still a bit boozy and unbalanced. Certainly much better than fresh -- oxidation has added some wonderful flavors to this. Persimmon notes?
