Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Alexander
This is why I don’t drink Founder’s anymore. The level of quality since they sold the majority stake of the company to Mahou San Miguel is sad.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Alexander
This is getting worse as it ages. A subtle sourness is slowly replacing the maple. The bitter coffee notes are getting more astringent. It’s slowly turning into a black cherry flavored cough medicine I fear.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Alexander
Out of the 3 year vertical, the 2017 is far & away the champ. The ‘19 doesn’t know what it wants to be. Neither the maple barrel nor the coffee stand out. It’s all chocolate & caramel malt.

Could be the weather, could be the mood, could be both. Nevertheless this sweet, fruity, & mildly tart raspberry ale is hitting on a smooth level.

Everything about this beer fresh, five years ago, has remained. Save for the tart cherry finish. Really miss that. Lots of sweet milk chocolate, rich caramel, and creamy vanilla.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Alexander
It took a couple years, but the booze mellowed out. That lets the coffee & chocolate come through very nicely. Tastes of graham cracker & creamy vanilla remind me of some s’mores by the campfire w/ a cop of KY coffee to wash it down

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Alexander
Excellent BA shelfie stout. It’s solid in all the flavors you’d expect (maple, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, and oak)

2 yrs has done this well. Much more depth of flavor all around. Sweet malt, rich caramel, & honey up front. Good amount of barrel present. Boozy/hoppy tingle on the finish

The aroma is sweet (vanilla, caramel, brown sugar) & the taste is creamy & sweet with lovely cocoa notes. Not a ton of coffee. The finish is bitter, which isn’t all the pleasant when compared to the overall taste
