Vigneronne (2011)

Lambic - Fruit

The name Vigneronne Cantillon was given in 1987. This name reminds us that, while it belongs to the beer patrimony, the spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines. In spite of its success, the Vigneronne represents less than 5% of the total production of the Cantillon brewery. In order to obtain grapes which are as mature as possible, we buy them at the end of the season. Every year, 1000 kilos of white italian grapes are delivered at the Cantillon brewery in the beginning of October.

Tart, still some grape and some funk but not as much as I’d like. Delicious!

DMC Brew

For me, the star among many stars today, and frankly, one of the best I've ever had from Cantillon. Great carbonation. Excellent pepper envelops the nose and body throughout. Light but distinct funk, green grape, lemon, and some woodiness in the body. 4.8

Oldest lambic I’ve had to date..I feel like classic gueuze already has some white grape/champagne qualities and the addition just enhances the overall roundness and has a little more buttery lingering must/funk on the back..this was no exception

Huge funk and minerality with moderate acidity. Fruit character is soft but still evident. Held up better than I anticipated. 4.35.

That funky chestnut wood and bugs from Brussels best. Has lost a little complexity but softer and so delicious.
