LCI from Saturday. 6/4/19 bottle. I bought a case of these from Belgium in a box years 3-4 years ago. This batch is still drinking great. Minimal acidity, and some dusty aspects. 4.3

10/27/20… more tart, and more citrusy than the 19. It’s pretty enjoyable, but the bite wore on me by the end. 3.85

2/15/21. Sharp AF. Gambrinus level of volatile acidity. We couldn’t finish the 375.

Yesterday. 10/4/16 bottle that’s drinking fantastic right now. Leather, cedar, Brussels basement, oak, lemon, and tart minerals. Minimal acidity, tastes like it’s a lot older than 8 years. 4.4

Flavor is ok, but the acid is off the charts. Not going to score it

Earlier in the week at Monk’s. Truly a ridiculous list of leftovers…not my favorite loon, but a decent batch, vanilla isn’t as cloying as previous runs. 3.9
about 1 year ago
tart raspberry candy and acid but no off notes. My least favorite Cantillon historically.

Frank Daddy bringing a Franzia style box of dat kriek 🍒 😋. He thinks it was from 2017, but who knows, and who cares…..we put the boots to this entire box during the session. Old school cherry pie, cherry cough syrup, lemon, oak, and jizz stains.

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles
Stoked to revisit this from a bottle. Thanks Ryan. We thought it had even more black pepper on the nose compared to the tap a couple years ago. Very fruity after the pepper earthiness. Great

Seems like there are 2 entries for the same beer on her. Typical untappd bullshit. Some hated this, but I didn’t think it was awful. Brandy from 2018
about 1 year ago
When in Rome, it’s slightly better out of the bottle, but really looking forward to what this beer will become in 5-10 years
about 1 year ago
nose is a little off putting. lactic mustard, weird funk. Not enough seaweed or oceanic minerality. Some stone fruit, but also a fair bit of VA. We weren’t into this for the most part
about 1 year ago
4/18/23 ultra freshie. Pool toy cherry, barn, lemon juice, and cherry candy. No vinegar or acetone, but still has a noticeable bite compared to back in the day. 3.9

2nd time trying this 🐳 , we all thought this needs a lot of time. Really bright citrus, and a little acidic at times. Should be great in 7-10 years

Saint Lamvinus Grand Cru (2019)
Loved this at Monk’s for the last Zwanze and also enjoyed at the brewery in Brussels a couple years before that, but this bottle isn’t great. Sharp acid and ketchup with some earthy rhubarb type notes along with grape skins.

2/25/19. Wow! Incredible batch this fresh, my other bottle will go another 5-10 years. Drinks so much older than the date, wet wood, flowers, cedar, minerals, lemonade, and gwayzeee. 4.85

10/23/20. Much preferred to the 3F Oude Geuze this day. Less acidic, and has the classic Brussels basement house funk along with some Arnold Palmer, oak, almond, yuzu, and minerals. 4.35

Tyrnilambic Baie D'Argousier (2021)
Really loved the 18 small guy of this beer, but this is pretty weird even for sea buckthorn. Has a little bit of sea shell, and oyster on the nose. Ton of carb with notes of pickle juice, gose, Belgian beer/plum, dirty/tart 🍋, and intense lactic funk.

Third time having this 11-23-21 bottling. Not a fan, and it’s getting progressively worse. Very herbal with some bell pepper, rhubarb, red currant, red berries, dirty grapes, brett, and funk. I miss old Saint lam.

Monks event. Sharp as is tradition, but not burning like most recent vintages.

Last one for backlog. A really nice lambic to revisit. More fresh, and bright compared to the bottle i had of this last year. Overall, a delicious Gueuze, thanks Dad. 4.4

11/10/22 bottle: jam, rhone Grenache blend, light rubber, purple berries, and light tannic funk. I enjoyed it more than others at the share, but it has some rubber/bandaid that wouldn’t blow off. 3.9
over 1 year ago
smells rotten with some stank ass, dirty green apple, and socks. Flavor is a little better, but another miss for the grape lambics. Wish he would use the grapes instead of just must, color is nothing like the candy apple red for poulsard.

wet wood, dusty cellars, cedar, lemon, and mineral. Doesn’t bite. So much better than the 18 we had just before it. 4.4

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut Bxl Beerfest V.2022
Cool label, but really disappointing. Acetic acid
over 1 year ago
11/26/20 bottle. We much preferred the other Saint Lam that we got in this pack from the website, I think it was the same date so not sure what happened. Mild florals, rhubarb, tart funk, and cereal natural wine. Lacking the jam, and mouthfeel. 3.85

9/25/18 bottle. Chlorine before the vinegar, and ACV bite. 3.6

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2023)
Like it with some age, but always a top 3 loon for me. 4.55

Bruoscella 1900 Grand Cru (2022)
Last beer in Santa Cruz shared with Sean, Larry, and Grif. 11/22/22 bottling at $29.99. Insane for bar pricing, but not surprising at Lupulo. Might be my favorite beer bar in the country. Happy 9th Anniversary! 4.7

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015)
12/23. Might be the best beer of the session, but this has always been a favorite loon of mine. Antique furniture, green tea, cedar, Brussels basement, and aged hops. Perfectly balanced acidity. Had a couple pours of this before leaving the share. 4.85

Slight oxidation on the nose along with some leather, and dusty basement. Wet cedar, and oceanic funk with some nice house funk, mineral, horse blanket, and lemon. No off notes and pretty incredible for its age. Thanks Frank 4.65

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut (2016)
Has a nice oak presence along with some tart citrus.

2023. Stephane Tissot 🙏🏻. Rose hips, peach, peppery poulsard, watermelon rind, white peach, white cherry, watered down rose wine, strawberry, and light mineral. Acidity is mellow. Wanted more for Tissot and the 🍇 varietals being used, but easy to crush

10 year birthday, and the last one from the session: perfumey florals, house bacteria, and preserved raspberry. Surprisingly doesn’t bite, but this was just before the bad global warming batches started coming out

Thanks Mark. Cedar, tea, light antique furniture, spearmint, dusty brett, and citrus. 4.3

Yesterday, after 27 holes at Sedgley Woods. October 2020: lemon, light cedar, light vinegar, and blood orange. Solid batch of Bio for a recent bottle. 4.1

1/10/23. Creamy oak, De Garde marionberry/blueberry, sour fruit skins, veggies, and lemon. Should call it Sang Bu like that Berliner series from Oregon. 3.8

Last 19 bottle I had was awesome, this one was enamel ripping acid after the initial stone fruit.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2007)
too old to rate, and we had some issues with cork, but pretty cool to revisit this one.

11/27/18. Some wet wood, sherry oxidation, tart fruit, leather, dirty veggies on the nose. 3.85
about 2 years ago
Had this a few days ago on its 6th birthday(4/28/17). Beautiful color, and a really nice batch with the classic Cantillon kriek profile….sour morello cherry, lemon, light vanilla, house bacteria, leather, and misc funk.

MCI from Torst with Dave. Light Nail polish, and acetone nose. Flavor is jammy apricot up front, but finishes too acidic as is tradition.
MCI. 2021 global warming vinegar acid bomb from the Masters Share on Saturday. Some nice cherry, but it’s mostly VA. Had an ounce then drained. 😞

Last one from ⛳️ sess. 3/22/16. Some nice black/brown mold under the cap which is usually a good sign. Cork disintegrated upon opening even though the wine key went straight down. Really nice basement, leather, house bugs, lemons, wet oak, and mineral.

3/25/2018: 🫑, and nice Gueuze. Not pickle juice, but the bell/jalapeño pepper is hard to get past even with the nice Gueuze base.

Grape fruit leather, carignan red berries, the best Saint Lam I’ve ever had, strawberry/raspberry fruit rollups, house funk, and pomegranate. The acidity is so tame, and the jam is off the charts. Huge thanks Adam. 4.85

Unbelievable complexity in this whale. Reminds me of a B1 Zenne with some layered sherry, ancient wood, Brussels basement, bright citrus minerals, Arnold Palmer, vinous funk, Jura soils, sea shells, sand dunes, Jizz stains, and grapefruit. 🙏🏻

From Keith’s trip to Quint. Lemon tea, subtle Gewurztraminer, light cedar, natty white, and Brussels bacteria. So crushable. 4.6

One of my favorite loons. Needs time, but still very enjoyable. Thanks 🐿️ master, “if anyone’s gonna stab him, it’s gonna be me”

My oldest bottle of kriek that I was saving for when the Secret (Drew) S. Came to town. It was tart, but good. Candy sour, cherry, cherry vanilla water ice, barn, lemon juice, minerals, and Brussels basement. 4.35

1/25/22 bottle. Probably the freshest Gueuze I’ve had besides drafts in 🇧🇪
over 2 years ago
At Stafford Woods yesterday. Was hoping this batch needed time since I picked up a case online a few years ago, but it’s still the same. Doesn’t taste like Cantillon Gueuze, but no off notes. Global warming is a bitch

10/12/20. After a round of disc golf with Dave. This is getting worse…same notes as last 2 check-ins but so much wet dog cereal in the finish. We struggled to get through this. The earth is warming, and so are these gwayzeeees
over 2 years ago
1/20/20. This date is drinking great…cedar, Brussels funk, white cherries, lemon, sea minerals, light leather, and grapefruit. Very fresh, but has some aged geuze qualities which is impressive for such a young’n. Acidity is mellow on a medium+ body.

11/23/21 herbal, and green grape forward. Thought the bottle of this date was better in May. Paired with some lemon banana sherbert from 🦊 Wellness in Denver. 4.1

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015)
Last one from the session. 2/20/15. One of my favorite beers from Cantillon, never disappoints. Brussels bacteria, dusty cellar, green tea, Spanish cedar closet, and minerals. Had a few pours of this bottle. 4.7

1/23/19 bottle. It’s sad when classic Gueuze is getting votes for worst in show. Pool chlorine.
