1/5/21 bottle….Some nice raspberry, but way too sharp as is tradition with Gambrinus. Some vinegar, and ketchup acid especially as it warms. Still better than hommage tho. 3.4

LCI from the Saturday 🐳 slay. Heavy dark grape, herbaceous funk, light yankee Christmas spruce candle, spice, and blackberry. Not sure why there’s so much hate on this one, we all enjoyed for the most part. Flavor was preferred to the nose though. 3.9

Tyrnilambic Baie d'Argousier (2018)
Sweet tarts, sea buckthorn, and ocean seed. Inner Sante/Hill sprees, chalky candy, house funk, magical Concord grape candy Anna. Highly Erotic treat from the sick fucks in Brussels

Ryan was right on the watermelon, but I also get some jizz stains, but just a couple….
Thanks Ryan. Horseradish, bitter grapefruit slices, blood orange. More acidic than other. Nose has some paint thinner and bad Vigneronne, but I dig the flavor for the most part. The chemical aroma doesn’t translate…. Really bright, and citrusy. 4.1

2019 bottle, thanks Al. The 18 at the brewery was one of my favorites of the 2019 TDG. Grape skins, oak, Brussels basement, grape juice, and musty, wet wood. Acidity is light. Lovely

1/16/20. Another one of the bucket list. Thanks Ryan. Notes are perfumey florals, light cognac, Cantillon Gueuze, dusty blinds, lemon juice. Unbelievably complex bottle with a soft mouthfeel. Delicious. 4.6

Saint Lamvinus Grand Cru (2016)
Last one for this edition of Throwback Thursday from BE. At the Museum with Simon, and Jim. Nose is grapes, cream, oak, light vinegar, and currants. Flavor is better with so much wine coming through, and none of the sweetness of the nose. Oaky tannins….
Apparently this ‘13 was not a good vintage. Acetone, and some paint thinner. Had this batch at Al’s somewhat recently and was also not good, but this is really rough for Cantillon.

Cuvée Moeder 10 Ans - Cab Franc
Last one for this edition of #TBT. Bottle at Moeder original. Nose is acidic fruit, cherry, cab franc grapes, and red vinegar. Flavor is pretty darn sour with fruit skins, light nail polish remover, lemon, and sweetness. Very underwhelming. Finish is…

Throwback Thursday (4/14/17). Fresh kriek at Moeder Fontainas in Brussels.

So much more acidic than the 2010, less fruit, and a touch of acetone especially in the nose. Meh

3/10/20 bottle. Thanks for sharing Pete, but this needs so much time.

Last night at Monk’s Cafe. Huge thanks to ryan for a pour of this 🍇 🐳. Rubber, grape skins, complex wine, house funk, herbals, and citrus. Light acidity. So fucking good….More vino than beer. 4.8

Stafford Woods: 10/12/20 bottle: white grape, green grape skins, Brussels airborne bacteria, light pepper, oak, organic cereal, cedar, and vinegar, and loon funk. Tasting nice this fresh, but could see this being 🔥 in a few years. 4.3

FLN. 1/30/19 bottle. Tart cherry, cinnamon cherry pie, lemon, wet wood, Brussels basement, minerals, and cranberry. Great batch of Kriek. 4.7

12/11/19. Ketchup acid, acetone, and painfully sharp raspberry. My least favorite bottle from Cantillon, and this is a really bad batch.
10/18/12 bottle last night. We were all pretty disappointed in this bottle. Maybe it was storage issues? Nose was rusty and metallic. Flavor had some pepper, light citrus, cereal, weird funk, oak, and spiciness. 3.7

Last night…Sent out the Compound with a proper tasting. Love this beer, but another loon that was slightly lacking compared to good batches of St Lam. Some rubber, vegetals, grape juice, mineral, rhubarb, and House funk. Not very jammy. Better as it sat
almost 4 years ago
Not very jammy: thin, and acidic with some cranberry, vinegar, light pool toy, ketchup, and lemon. Disappointing for my favorite Kriek, but it’s been very inconsistent the last few years
almost 4 years ago
Thanks Eric. Arnold Palmer, funky cheese, oak, antique furniture, lemon, basement musk, Cantillon bugs, and Sherry type complexity. One of my favorite loons.

Throwback Thursday. Drank on 2/8/17. 🍒 pie goodness. Can never go wrong with LPK or LPG in my book. Oak, cherry jam, cinnamon, vanilla, tart lemon, and Brussels basement.

2-0 Italy. Bottled on October 4th. Loon house funk, wet oak, lemon, cedar, gun powder, iced tea, and pepper. Not bad for a prime global warming era gueuze. 4.15

Throwback Thursday: 12/1/16 share with Al, Siobhan, Lee, and possibly Jimbo. LPK is always an erotic experience: schaerbeekse jam, vanilla oak, airborne Brussels bugs, sweet/tart 🍒, leather, and lemon.

After a round at Stafford Woods. 4 year birthday of this bottle (4/19/17). Tart cherry candy, lemon juice, horseblanket, light leather, and minerals. The best kriek 🍒
about 4 years ago
LCI from the Masters share. November 2018 bottle. Ultra young/bright at this point in time, but thanks for sharing Keith G. Lots of vinegar, burnt lemon, lactic acid, and twang.
Masters Sunday: June 8th, 2016. Antique furniture, basement musk, organic cereals, loon bugs, lemon rind, mineral, Arnold Palmer, and airborne butt funk. Drinking nice right now
about 4 years ago
TBT: B1 bottle on 11/14/16 at Sancho Pistolas with Eric, and Katie for their Cantillon lunch event. 5 ounce pour for $5. Dusty cedar blinds, grape skins, antique furniture, berries, tart cherry, leather, horse blanket, and dirty Earth. Total knockout.
Throwback Thursday at Sancho Pistolas in Fishtown. The best kriek 🍒 in the lambic game. Tart and jammy schaerbeekse cherries with the Cantillon house bacteria funk.
3/2/20. Lively carbonation that dissipated before taking the picture. Some really nice perfumey & tart cherry similar to old paper labels of Oude kriek. It has a touch of the cinnamon cherry pie, but mostly floral cherry, lemon, house funk, wet oak, 🍒...

2/17/20 bottle bought from Etre. Nose is straight acetone, ketchup, umami tomato, battery acid, and raspberry. Flavor is nail polish remover, chemicals, acid, and sharp berries. Fucking Gambrinus.... this is why I never keep or age this beer.
12/24/13 bottle. Arnold Palmer, pale malts, light loon bacteria, lemon, wet wood, leather, grape, and dirty butt.

Throwback Thursday (10/22/16). One of my favorites from Cantillon: old hops, antique furniture, horseblanket, herbals, lemon, funky cheese, apricot, and damp 🌎
over 4 years ago
6/7/13 bottle: Heavy chlorine, Spanish cedar, stone fruit, leather, and slightly oxidized funk. Maybe storage or possible global warming issues. Better as it warmed, but not the best vintage
over 4 years ago
Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions)
2/15/19 bottle. Arnold Palmer, herbal hops, sea soaked wood, minerals, Brussels basement, lemonade, oak, and airborne bacteria. People always sleep on CSG, one of my favorites and somewhat easy to attain for a decent price.

2nd time trying this batch. Vanilla is too strong for me in this bottle. Other notes are some raspberry candy, overripe blueberry, more vanilla bean, wheat, perfume, and berry smoothie. 4.1
over 4 years ago
Black cherry, cherry jam, cinnamon, cherry pie, vanilla oak, cherry water ice. It’s not very funky or acidic which I’m fine with, but very different than other LPK batches. Wanted more Cantillon house character
over 4 years ago
Ultra funky rhubarb, and Cantillon yeast on the initial nose and flavor. Some vinegar, citrus, flowers, lemon, wet cedar, cheese, and barn. It’s nice, but I really like the 17, and 19 vintages

June 19 bottle. I’ve been enjoying this batch, but after an ‘11, It’s lacking some depth. Subtle nose, flavor is Arnold Palmer, chalk, sweet tarts, oak, and bright flowers. Going to age my other bottles another 2-7 years.
8/31/11 bottle. Nose is so dusty and complex with some leather, wet oak, and house funk. Flavor is still impressively bright at over 10 years old. Grapefruit, barn, cedar closet, lemon, and flinty minerals. 4.6
over 4 years ago
LCI. 5/20/15. Such a pretty looking beer with lively carbonation. Nose has the Museum cellar funk, leather, ripe raspberry, wet wood, and flowers. Flavor is tart raspberry, lemon juice, minerals, berry jam, and house bacteria. 4.3

TBT (6/29/12). Bottle care of Jeremy, thanks for knocking this 🐳 off the bucket list. Hazy glowing gold with small white head. Wood, wine, ultra lactic funk, flowers, lemon juice, lemon, and musty rich, and Earthy gueuze flavors. Impeccable Sour
over 4 years ago
#TBT: my favorite gueuze/vintage of all time. Frank used to crack this and the ‘94 on the regular. Oak, peach, basement, horseblanket, vanilla, lemon, cedar, and airborne lactic bacteria, clove, and yeast funk. Medium to strong acidity. Perfection 🙏🏻

2/1/16 bottle for Pat’s birthday session last night. Wet oak, pepper, burnt lemon, horseblanket, leather, firecrackers, Arnold Palmer, and funky yeast. Restrained acidity with a silky mouthfeel.

#TBT: (9/24/16 share). Cantillon 🍇 lambics are in a league of their own, and this is one of my favorites. Nice vintage a few years before the global warming issues at the brewery.

11/22/18 bottle. Acetone nail polish remover nose. Flavor is pure battery acid, sharp raspberry, paint thinner, red vinegar, and heart burn. Drained....happens all the time with Gambrinus.

Blåbær Lambik (Blueberry Lambic) (2019)
I opened one of these in June and it was so much better than this bottle that Al got from Europe. Nose is heavy bandaid and latex. Flavor has the blueberry, wine barrel, and loon bugs, but also that plastic/adhesive funk. 4.75 to 3.75

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 109 Mono Blend
FLN: Boozy, and spicy. Slightly better than the last bottle I had, but I’ve never been a big fan of Boon. 3.6
over 4 years ago
10/22/13 bottle. Thanks Al. The nose is off and somewhat metallic/acidic. Flavor is better with some Brussels basement, lemonade, oak, grape skins, and peach skins.
Thanks Barry. I preferred the 05 we had in VT last FoFa, but this has some nice sour cherry, old wood, lemon, and more vintage oak.
October 16 bottle. Metal nose, and spicy wood. Some really weird off funk for Cantillon. Last bottle from 12 was also bad, but it could be Barry’s cellar
over 4 years ago
Just as good as the 19, but slightly under the 17 for me. Stone fruit, bright rhubarb, strawberry, lemon skin, sweet tart, and nectarine
over 4 years ago
Nothing like a Belgian Flag gwayzzee. Had this same 8/27 batch in May, and it’s tasting just as nice. Thanks Al
over 4 years ago
4/26/16 bottle. Nose smells like Cantillon’s cellar: dusty wood, leather, and basement funk. Flavor is unbelievably bright cherry and lemon juice, cherry candy, horseblanket, and Brussels airborne bacteria. Heavenly batch of my favorite kriek. 4.7

3/3/20 freshie. Lemon, raspberry jam, light wood, and salty earth on the nose. Flavor has some nice raspberry candy, minerals, hibiscus, oak, cranberry, and the slightest touch of organic cereal as it warms up. Doesn’t bite hard like a lot of Gambrinus
over 4 years ago
4/22/16 bottle. Funky cherry, loon bacteria, lemon juice, chlorine pool toy, vanilla oak, and more 🍒 goodness.
