Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2019) (+25% 4 Year Lambic)

That rare batch that sat in cognac, and port barrels. Those are noticeable in the finish, but it’s subtle. Flat pour which is apparently normal for this batch. Arnold Palmer, oak, and other classic Gueuze funk. 4.1

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2020)

4/15/20 bottle. Al said this batch is their golden blend gueuze. Flinty freshness, a fair bit of salinity, and heavy oak. Solid.

Lou Pepe Gueuze (2010)

Much needed after the last couple duds. Incredible as usual….wet cedar, horseblanket, Brussels funk, lemon, minerals, grapefruit, leather. Usually give this batch a 5, but 4.8 is perfect for this one.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2011)

Totally undrinkable for all of us. Chemicals, and acetone. Immediately thrown on the lawn. Has to be a bad bottle or at least I hope it is.

Mamouche (2021)

Thanks Tyler, this bottle was drinking nice. Only a touch of green pepper, lots of fresh herbs and elderflower along with some house yeast, and oak. No pickle juice or strong vinegar.

some nice apricot fruit on the nose, but this shit be burning. Lemon juice, and insanely strong acidity. One sip, and drained. Had to pick my battles this day with so much Lambic. No off or chemical notes though.

FLN. Had this on tap, but first bottle of this vintage. Very young tasting with fresh herbals, bright citrus, gunpowder, flint, and lemon juice. Preferred the Zwanze tap, but let’s give it some time. 3.9

Single Barrel 18 Month Lambic

TBT. Cask at the source with Barry, Al, and Keith. (10/6/15). Brown orange color without much carbonation. Watery and bland flavor profile with wet oak, basement funk, and light leather being noticed. A touch sweet. This was the 18 month old jawn.

Huge thanks to Ryan for popping this vintage 🐳 from Tom Peter’s cellar. Holding up great for 25 years. Nose is so dusty and complex. Flavor is tart and layered with classic Cantillon geuze, light cherry, basement, wet oak, and wild funk.

8/17. Thanks Al, some really nice fruit: dried apricot, apricot jam, Brussels basement, lemon. Nose has a little bit of chemical type paint thinner, but the flavor is solid. Better than most fou foune which I’m not a big fan of when it comes to Cantillon

4/19/17 bottle cracked at 4:19 pm. Wasn’t on purpose, but pretty creepy if u ask me. Drinking great on its 5th birthday. Nose is bursting with fruit punch. Candy pool toy cherry, ludens, tart lemon, and house funk on the flavor. Delicious

Oude Geuze Apogee

Yesterday’s session. Really lively and bright. Wet oak, light leather, grapefruit, flinty minerals, and tart citrus. Not boozy or sweet like a lot of Boon. Thanks Ryan. 4.2

This one had eluded me for 15 years. Thanks Adam. Plenty of carbonation. Insanely bright for the age. Citrus, old oak, lemon, peach, Cantillon and Drie house funk. Silky mouthfeel. Unbelievable bottle that must have been cellared properly. 4.8

Le Plaisir

2021 bottle in Charlotte. Slight metal, strong vinegar, white wine, acidic lemon, wet dog cereals, chemicals, and grape skin. Lighter bodied. Not a big fan of this one.

FLN. 3/13/14 bottle from the stash. Held up incredibly well with some roasted malt, fig, brown sugar, bitter hops, coffee, almonds, licorice, plum, and cola. Unbelievably smooth, and crushable. 4.4

Oldest Cantillon kriek in my cellar. It’s hard to make out the date, but it’s bottled in March so it’s basically the 10 year birthday. Tart cherry, oak, Brussels basement, vanilla, bright lemon, and cinnamon cherry pie. Killer 🍒 🤤

Divin Lambic

Similar notes to the last bottle, but it’s more thin, and we are getting a touch of copper on the nose. Flavor is reminiscent of Saint Lam, but not as impressive or layered.

Sophia Lambic

2020 vintage. Never loved this one. The 19 at Tour de GeuZe was better than the 18. First time trying this batch, I like the flavor over the nose. Getting some chem, cider, and phenols for aroma. Flavor is grape, wet wood, apple, and subtle loon funk

1 year birthday bottle (1/18/21). We’ve had terrible luck with various dates of ‘21 Cantillon krieks, and this is another bad one. Vinegar, and slight nail polish remover nose. Flavor is sharp acid, cherry, and lemon juice. Way too acidic. 2.8

Just as nice as I remember, and can go another 10 years. Basement funk, wet oak, lemon, mineral, dust, and Brussels bacteria.

Shared by Barry since he has a tradition of cracking a Cantillon kriek on Christmas. Totally undrinkable for us. Nose is paint thinner, acetone, and chemical. Flavor is battery acid, vinegar, ketchup, and cherry Acid. We had to drain immediately.

Tastes like the best bottle of fou foune I’ve ever had. So much apricot, peach, salty Earth, rhubarb, nectarine, and wet wood. No musty basement, or dustiness. Insanely juicy, and bright. Perfectly cellared treat, thanks Ryan. 4.85 rounded up

Drogone Lambic (2021)

More vino than beer. Grape skins, dark berries, red wine, wood, lemon, hibiscus, musty basement, Cantillon funk. Lighter bodied with active carb. No bite…. Crushable 🍇 juice. 4.7

Preferred the 8/31/11 bottle over this December 2011 bottle. Wet oak, bright citrus, cedar, slightly oxidized funk, and Brussels basement. Nose is a touch off for us, but good for the gut flora.

TBT. At In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst on Easter Sunday. One of the best beer experiences of my life was being at this legendary bar on Easter sipping lambic with locals. Nice vintage with strong cantillon house funk, oak, and grapes.
