Not bad…a little flat and not a ton of red wine influence.

Tangy red wine note over top of a malty backbone. Seems more oxidized than the base beer. Pretty mellow.

8 of 10 it has improved with age. The wine barrel notes have finally blended with the barley wine sweetness. Still seems to have some hot character. Alcohol burn at the end has mellowed.

I’m not sure the age of this bottle, but I assume “old” based on some friends’ checkins. This is right for aging. Wine notes are low on the backend. Wood character is solid and this seems like a well-built barleywine. Another Hoos brew!

This cellared well, thanks Terry. Great flavors which varied as it warmed up. The red wine is somewhat diminished.

7.5 of 10 The wine notes and the classic barley wine notes actually seem to fight each other, and that’s a whole lot of alcohol burn. Still kind of fun though.

Y’all this was so good. Aged since the summer after our wedding. Def get that wine note, sweet without cloying, exactly what you hope your aged beer will taste like.

Cellar beer. Soapy, caramel nose. A little citrus and oxidation. Big caramel flavor. Not overly sweet. Still some hip bite. A little tang from the wine barrel. Nom.
