Mikkeller Oude Geuze (Old Calvados Casks Blend)

Lambic - Gueuze

The Mikkeller oude Gueze lambic is a new unique collaboration between Mikkeller and Boon. Blending lambic from one to three years old, this blend is made in the traditional method of spontaneous fermentation in the Senne valley, Belgium. This special blend has a distinct twist being matured in oak foeders previously used for Calvados. Ideal before a meal or paired with cheese. Made in collaboration with the beer mastermind Frank Boon. Oude Geuze brewed by Boon.

Belle petite geuze. Le calvados est discret. Acidité modéré et carbonation légère. Très bon en apéro.

A ghost of lambics past. Sour mothballs in a dark dusty basement. Weird metallic scent on the nose that does not match the taste. Not much apple left

2016BTL. Fruity and funky with moderate acidity. Hints of apple, apricot and yellow peach, farmhouse yeast and a woody finish. LCI MGOB share

I never planned on drinking a geuze in November. I bought this when the weather was warm, but life happens. I read geuzes don’t cellar well, so here I am. Drinking my first geuze on a chilly fall night. It’s good. I like. See you next summer, geuzes.

Tonight, this is hitting the spot. We've been having spring-like weather, and this is a refresher from the bourbons/stouts. The funk is more pronounced than when I had this in 2018. Getting a tad berry notes on the finish. This is going to age well.

Not falling off but not changing much either after 6 yrs. Plently of tart apple, light funk, lots of carb. Very drinkable and tasty!
