Nostalgic for me. But also nothing of what it once was 6-7 years ago.

More like a brown ale or a porter at best. This is a bit thin and malty for a stout.

Tastes heavy but not 11% definitely a sipper and boozy, but nicely balanced

So boozy, molasses. Did not expect this at a Thai place.

Airport beer on my way to Portland, Maine. Cheaper than a Bud pint.

This is just a fabulous barrel aged beer. Never fails to please. Last year’s brew edged this one out to a perfect 5. But then again your own palates can vary between them.

Haven’t had this in forever. Apparently never checked it in. Had to grab one when I saw it. Not too much booze or bourbon. Mostly caramel.

Tastes off. Not sure what it is but tastes flat and unappealing. Not bad but not great.

"Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel & roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice, & a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate." As described! Deeeelicious!

What the fuck amazing!! Makes me wish I rated all my other 5.0 beers lower.

Just yum. Favorite caramel, malt, and bourbon barrel.

Sometimes, it’s a beer’s name that piques my interest … like “Backwoods Bastard” wee heavy/Scotch ale aged in oak bourbon barrels, from Founders Brewing, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Another good sip from Founders. Salud! 🍺

No Baseball..........It's a Backwoods BASTARD kind of afternoon!

Very important beer. Used to be my favorite. Haven't had the regular version in years. Not something I'll drink regularly anymore, but glad Founders is still pumping it out.

I remember hunting for these back in the day. Glad it’s readily available now always a solid snag.

Great everyday beer with good woody character from the barrel; hits heavy but tasty

rating holds 7+ years after first had it. balance here is superb and representative of style. nice base - caramel sweet present + nice light spice kick. barest hint dark fruits - raisans + touch toffee. barest hint barrel.

This is on shelves year round now and that’s pretty awesome! Like a cigar in a glass and much more shelf-stable than KBS because there’s no coffee to thin out👍🏼

Delicious BBA Wee Heavy! Sweet malty goodness with notes of caramel, vanilla and bourbon. Bottled on 1/08/24

Wee Heavies are always legal; even when you don’t know your daddy. 🤣🤣 Surprised the definition hasn’t changed “yet”. Bastard is a legal term that applies equally to women and men. Having no legal father, or illegitimate (born outside of marriage).

Definitely need to get back to drinking more Founders Barrel Aged beers

Sweet caramel, oaky, plums, figs, little bit of bourbon. Nothing over the top. I’m curious how this mellows out
