French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

I gotta admit, it's probably the best French toast beer I've had. Really well balanced between the vanilla, maple, and cinnamon. Plus it's not overly sweet. What's even more surprising is that it's a BBA beer with a high 11.1% abv, but you'd never know it

Revisiting a personal favorite - and still as good as I remember, if not better. Sweet, bourbon, vanilla, and a long lasting finish of maple. Its beers like this that have placed a future trip to visit Founders on top of my beer-bucket list items

Holy cow! Cinnamon. Vanilla. Brown sugar malts that morph into the flavor filled finish. Base beer is somewhat masked (love me a good Scotch Wee) this is like a pastry stout. Boozy just like you want them

Hands down one of the best beers that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. The flavor profile is out of this world. Explosive notes of cinnamon and syrup, what's not to like! It's like literally, dessert in a bottle. When released, time to stock!!!

Tastes like French toast with maple syrup on a warm winter morning. Or, like the same at Waffle House on a late summer night that is sure to result in a rough morning. Take your pick.

November 7th, 2013 The day I started cataloging my brews. I'm going to consider todays Bastard a throwback since my very first check-in was a Founders Backwoods Bastard. Profound when I think about it.

North Country breakfast. Maple infused, and cinnamon and vanilla, blended into the Bastard double scotch ale. Might be a little early in the season; just means I’ll have to buy more.
