More hops and bitterness than other BWs. A bit boozy as well...

Fascinating beer. Tastes like equal parts Imperial IPA, stout and barleywine. You've got some resinous hop bitter, some sweet, musky malt and a twinge of roast throughout that form a broad palate but work well together. It's smooth, powerful but balanced.

It’s a repeat but this time in a bottle at home. The rain has stopped finally after all these days! I’m celebrating with this Barleywine. 11.2% ABV.

Tastes more like a scotch ale than a barley wine to me, but it's awesome

Wow. A barleywine by Founders. Get you some of this before it's all gone

Founders knocked another one out of the park with this one. Not quite the same flavor as Victory Old Horizontal, but Nemesis is on shelves to be bought.

Pours darker than you expect for a BW. Nose is sweet molasses malt, with layer of old school SN Pale Ale hops. Molassesy malty flavors to start, finishes with old school hop bitterness. Chewy feel. (More like 4.1, but giving benefit of the doubt.)

BOTTLED ON: 03.09.21 0338 2. Bike ride cut short because rain. Then I felt like having a barleywine! This is on the very roast and semi low bitterness scale for the style. Still quite good. Kind of chocolatey.

Solid barleywine. Founders is like one of my faves that's not local

Not sure why do low rated? Live the malt, and the tobacco notes. Better as it breathed and warmed. I wish I had bought more than two

Not a true Barley Wine (lacks complexity and too hoppy). But a very well made strong ale. 👍🍻🇬🇧

Well done barelywine. Rich caramel and molasses. A good amount of bitter hops but blends well.

I picked this up not knowing it was a barleywine. I'm not complaining. 🙂
