Sweet medium roasted maltiness. Boozy warming. Hops come through. Slightly piney. Slightly chocolatey. I haven't had a Founders barleywine since 2012! I'm not usually a big fan of BW's, but this one is pretty dang good.

This is my jam. Dry and bitter barleywine. Beware: This will torch your pallet

A tasty barleywine style ale, smooth for the ABV. To celebrate the birthdays of my son, my best man, and the late great Gordie Howe.

So this is a beer that ranks in the “good” range fresh and “insanity” once it ages. My advice - buy some, lose it for 4-5 years and future you will thank last drunk you for the wonderful thought.

Didn't know what this was, but it's interesting and tasty. Deceptively smooth, as strong as it is.

Sweet malty &hoppy nose. Smooth with a malty sweet backbone . Notes of Carmel & earthy hops. Raisins with a piney Resin hoppy finish

Stonefruit sweetness that quickly morphs into an intense roastiness. Finishes quite bitter without the boozy notes you'd expect from an 11.2% beer. This is amazingly good and not what I'd expect from a Barleywine.

This is really nice. Sweet dark fruity esters, boozy and then caramel to toffee goodness.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Hoppy with heavy malt backbones. Didn't get too much booze. Going to age a few.

Taste like 120 minute ipa. Which is not a barleywine but great! Also not really an ipa so

Super tasty. Dark fruit with bittering hoppy pine flavor over a full and malty base. Exceptionally smooth for the ABV. Super drinkable, great beer.

This one's growing on me. Initially, more hoppy on the nose and palate than I expected, even for an American style. As it warms, more of the sweet caramel and fruity notes are present. It's still pleasantly bitter, with a lingering herbal hop presence.

Been too long since I've had a barley wine from founders, they knocked this one out of the park

Yummy. Dark coffee, smooth, subtle booziness, slight char. Mmmmmm.

IMHO...Nemesis is a slightly hoppier version of their Underground Mtn Brown ale...it's a stretch to say it's a barley-w I

New on tap goodness...on this date in baseball history (2004) Roger Clemens moves ahead of Steve Carlton (4,136) into second place on the career strikeouts list.
