French Toast Bastard (2019)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

French toast on the nose! 😤 legit syrup on the taste. Impressive for being 4-5 years old.

Still good after years in the cellar. Upped it a notch - still very sweet, but the flavor match to a syrupy breakfast treat is uncanny.

Mellowed with age. Not as sticky syrupy. Love finding my hometown Founders up here in New York!

Just a tad more cinnamon than the last one- tastes less artificial. 2019 mothership series vintage

Not really a beer that should be aged. Hint of maple syrup and cinnamon.

Yep that's Shoney's french toast sticks. Less booze, more maple cinnamon then this year's.

I had high expectations of this beer, and I was not disappointed. Tami usually does not care for Scotch ales but she says this one equals The Bourbon county in her palette

This is a wonder of maple brown sugary goodness and yes a touch of egg-like and breadiness which helps nail the French toast similarity. No alcohol burn, but the finish has a slight flat coke caramel, that I don’t care for
