The bourbon barrel overwhelms the lager and you just get a watery bourbon barrel flavored lager. I've had worse barrel aged brews for sure, but this one just falls flat of what could have been.

This is a hard nope. The bourbon and Oktoberfest marzen do not work together.

BBA aroma is almost non-existent. While the flavor is not too strong, the BBA flavor overpowers the flavor of the beer and takes center stage. Flavor of the beer is almost completely lost. Honestly, we didn’t check the labels and missed that this is BBA.

I think the barrel aging covers up too much of the flavor of the Oktoberfest itself. Not for me.

Tastes like I’m not allowed to use the good printer. This is firmly in Founders’ tradition of imperial-izing and barrel aging styles that don’t want or need that treatment. Fusel, cloying, and somehow thin.

It's too boozy to be good as a Festbier, throw it in a barrel for a few months and call it a winter warmer..

Not sure why it tastes bland. Most reviews seem to suggest it's more bold. Anyone from Founders wanna comment? Could it be a weird batch? For some reason, this tastes like flat cream soda :/

I'm not sure the bourbon barrel aging works with the Märzen style. The perfect Oktoberfest beer is decisively crisp, articulating each note of flavor. Bourbon is mellow, yet loud. There is an argument of sorts happening here. It's not beneficial.

Been a longtime Founders fan. Have not been that impressed with these new beers these past few years. Seems like they are more concerned about using existing ingredient inventory rather than making exceptional beers (Curmudgeon, Tank Bender, DKML, Doom).

I want to hate this. It tastes like someone poured vanilla vodka in a marzen. But the vanilla taste like cake icing. Anyway, another ridiculous "extreme" beer for no real reason other than they can.
