This was stunning. The highlight of the beerfest. Almost 8 years old and still holding. Thanks Sam For sharing this from DFH’s cellar.

Extreme Beer Fest #11! Ho. Lee. Shit. The fest culminated in the best beer in the box, hands down. Very smooth. Taste is pure caramelization, like the top layer of a fine creme brûlée. Barrel is there, not overwhelming, perfectly balanced, so f’in good.

Have I been ruined for all other beers? This is the pinnacle of what a barleywine can be. I taste a bountiful medley of fig, caramel, toffee, and molasses, with the body of a hearty cabernet.

The nose introduces the palate of booze with punches of rum, brown sugar & dark berry. The palate is exceptional; malty, syrupy & caramelized with layered complexity through the distinct presence of dehydrated fruits, figs, & dates 🔥2013 - 15.6%🔥

I cannot detect any degradation in this barleywine, but I could be impaired at this point. But, it is so good. Right from Dogfish Heads Cellar. Can’t beat that.

Boozy caramel, rum-soaked raisins, toffee, fig, prune; very complex nose. Medium bodied, with little-to-no carbonation. Taste is prune up front, with some date and fig notes. Raisin and burnt caramel round out the palate with a lingering sweetness.

Rich sweet fruity, mellow subdued hops. Real smooth and tasty with enough booziness to remind you how strong it is! Could have gone a few years longer

Friday night oldie. Aged leathery caramelized dates and booze soaked fruitcake.

Aged 11 years. Malt, dried fruit, raisin, light caramel nose. Dried fruit, caramel, malt, raisin, touch of citrus, light apple skin. Aged exceptionally well, really smoothed things out. Alcohol still present but well integrated.

A classic barleywine in every sense of the world, 8 years in the bottle has really brought the malt forward and chilled out the hops.

A warm, boozy sensation from the moment it rolls over the lips and enters the body. The fig/date is prominent and the enjoyment grows with each sip. Since I'm not much of a barleywine aficionado I'm going to rate this high because I like it.

Yup. Sorry Travis L. I should have held this one for ya.

Gifted by great friend BTender @ DFish Alehouse Gaithersburg. Told me it was 2013 version. Has lost some carbonation but definitely not the taste. Extremely smooth drinking. Flavors are full of dates/figs. Chewy as it warms. Subtle boozy finish Wow!!!

A nice 56 degree Fall night to sip on this. Aged beautifully. Dark fruits tobacco brown sugar with a nice bite. Wish I had more. 4.40ish

HNY! “Honey, Frank the Tank is not coming back, okay? That part of me is over. It's water under the bridge. I promise.” Still has time on it. Sweet and a delicious carmel bomb. Hops still hopping and kicking around with some decent bitterness. 🍻1️⃣❤️🌎☮️

Haven't had one of these in years. Nice treat. Dogfish is great at these obnoxiously strong beers.
