World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged

Stout - Imperial / Double

Just when we thought World Wide Stout couldn’t get any better… Our brewers decided to take a Dogfish Head legend and age it on charred oak bourbon barrels acquired directly from Heaven Hill Distillery – still wet with spirits when they arrived at the brewery! Rare and often rumored about in the darkest corners of the beer community, this variety of World Wide Stout is dark, rich, roasty and complex, balancing notes of coffee and licorice with the carmely, smooth finish of bourbon. Clocking in at 15-18% ABV, Bourbon Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout is an excellent candidate for cellaring, so grab a few bottle to enjoy now and lay the others down for a few years. You’ll be happy you did … trust us.

Not sure how this is my first check in of WWS but fitting that it is a 2019 vintage bottle. Merry Christmas to myself. Ages fantastic.

Fantastic roasty toasty imperial stout … one of the best I’ve had. Bourbon barrel-aged w/ coffee & rich caramel (malt). Super strong & balanced w/ better carbonation than most stouts. 18%. Bday bottle share party. (FLN)

18% alcohol! Definitely the highest octane beer I have ever had. Tastes like a very boozy Hershey’s syrup.

Advent calendar beer #2: If your beer isn’t 18%, are you really even trying? Not surprisingly, a little boozy.

Btld 11/1/19. Soooo strong and boozy! Very smooth and balanced. Nice finishing burn. Bourbon pretty much disguises all else for me, but that's OK.

I feel the base beer aged better than the BBA version, for my specific tastes. There is a pronounced oak-y bitterness/astringency in this one. Not a negative, but on the heels of the non-BBA, a bit jarring. Next year, I'll try in reverse order BBA 1st

Dogfish makes some of my favorite IPAs and this BB aged stout will be added to the list- sweet, chocolaty, malty, tasty and boozy👍👍

Whoa! There is nothing subtle and discreet about this beer. Yet at the same time, it's somehow very drinkable. I saved this for a special occasion, and I'm not disappointed. I'm glad I have three bottles left for more special occasions!.

2018... I'd say too mellow/long. Don't get me wrong, its a good beer, just past its prime. Cofee and BBA are both almost dead. Its still complex, the volume is just turned way down.

2019. Bourbon, raisin, dark chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate, fig, some raisin, and a lot of bourbon without any harshness. Well balanced. Really fantastic at this point, though I don't know what it was like new in 2019. I'd never guess it's 18%.
