Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

IPA - American

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped.

Man, this is good! Sweet and smooth with that cognac style finishing burn to remind you that it's a 17% beer.

I'm not saying this is the best thing to come out of the Dogfish and Sam Adams relationship, I'm just saying it's good enough for me to buy it more than once

This is really good. Great flavor, lots of booziness, hint of sweetness, not too much bitterness. Can’t wait to see how this ages.

Blessed to have gotten to try this bad boy! Special thanks, Brad P. for snagging this out for the share! 🤘🏼😳🫡 17% BOOOOZEFEST! With some age, this might be a straight banger! Booze is sharp!

This is really interesting and great. Almost like a Barleywine, but bitter enough to know it’s an ipa.

The dry hopping is apparent. Wish it wasn’t. Fortunately, it Gets a LOT better as it warms. Rich toffee when warmer, caramel bomb, with much less pronounced hop backbone. Rating is based on the last couple sips, not the first couple.

While the traditional 120 minute is good and one of the better IPAs I’ve had, this takes it to another level. The barrel aging works so much better than I expected with this profile and results in a rich and flavor-packed experience.

Mostly just curious about this one. Boozy on the nose. Boozy raisins and plums on the palate, malty, sweet (obviously), strong (even more obviously). I probably won't drink this again. It's very over the top.
