Found a guy with a 2017 to drink next to my 2014. :-)

Wild how 7 years of aging this can change a beer, sweet and bold bite, clean as can be on the finish. Wow.

Cheesus Chrysler - cellared (closet) for almost 6 years - Carmel barley wine righteousness

This has aged really well. Probably the only IPA I'll ever rank this high.

"Ages Well." Actually yeah. Hoppy white wine notes. This is quite delicious.

I think this is the right year it’s been in my basement for a few years and the date rubbed off.

Aging has mellowed this out even more.... quite good.... but not really an IPA/hoppy taste at all.

As you can see, lots of floaties. It's still very strong, but the booziness is subsiding. Am I getting a hint of sherry? I reported some fruitiness last time, but I'm not sure about that - that's why I'm going with sherry. 3 sips and my tongue is numb.

Merry Christmas to me....and yes, I am watching Die Hard.

Pulled from the cellar. Honey-like aroma with a bitter finish, with notes of toffee. Also, a bit of agave?

Pretty solid! Tough to differentiate from a barleywine right off the bat, but unmistakably becomes a great TIPA as it warms

The epitome of IPA. Been savin this bad boy for a while. Figured hey, I'm gonna eat Little Caesars, what better day to open this

3rd time I've had this, twice in 2017 and now aged 4 years... the aged version is much better. The abv heat is gone and it is so smooth now, loving this.

Who would have thought 120min IPA could get any better?!

Bottled on 03/16/17. Abv 16.5%. From our stash. I hoarded a few different years because I love this triple that is boozy like a barleywine!

Took one and aged it. Better now then it was then. Now it’s a nice blend of boozy and hoppy.

Seems like at least 4 years (and more is probably better) is the sweet spot. Tasting amazing now. I hope I can find more aged one laying around in San Diego.

Aged extremely well, smooth, creamy and mellow, entering Barley Wine territory. Tons of caramel and molasses. Still boozy but in a good way. Color changed over the years.

One of the best...Ages so well.

4 years old, definitely mellowed out and has lost the hot bite! Tastes more like a 10%er now. Like a hoppy barleywine, caramel rye bread.

2011, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 in 2021. This is 4 years, and 5 years is the pinnacle of aging

Very late check in. Much enjoyed after extra family left after Xmas festivities were over!

Wow. This is just the perfect age. Rich and sweet, still has a floral nose.

Late checkin. Great beer for special celebrations and occasions.

Nice and strong. Not so much bite as the new ones. Very thick

I have been saving this for 5 years. Its nowhere near an IPA. Great dark raisin and prune notes. No heat whatsoever!! Looking forward to 2027!! LOL

Brouwers Hard Liver Barleywine Fest: the age brought out the fruitiness. Still great five years later.
