Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2017) Carley
Yowza, at this point the heat is front and center followed by the vanilla.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2021) Carley
Delicious, pungently Belgian but knocks it out of the park.

The beer sounds a bit overkill but it's actually quite balanced and nice. Aroma of sweet sharp cherries with a touch of oak. The Beer is almost marshmallow-y but without the actual flavor. Nice touch of acid with cherries. Brown sugar finish and oak.

Brouwers Hard Liver Barleywine Fest: the age brought out the fruitiness. Still great five years later.

Oude Geuze Boon (2014-2015) Carley
Unfortunately I think this one may have gone a bit "bad". Not bad in the sense that it tastes awful or got infected or even super oxidized. It's definitely not as complex as I've come to expect. A little barn-y on the nose, sweet and lightly tart.

A little old but held up surprisingly well. Boozy, oaked, rye with a decent hop character. I'm glad I took a chance on this.

A kegged "Gueze", interesting. It has some of the characteristics of their regular Gueze but it definitely isn't the same. It is much milder and doesn't have much of the barnyard or funk aspects. Glad I could try it but wouldn't get it again.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Carley
Holy shit, coffee. Maple and fudge on the nose with an edge of roasty coffee. I mean really fudgy chocolate. Hits your palate with strong black coffee with some earthy sweetness. Finishes very dry with ground coffee bean character to it.

World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged Carley
Yowza, boozy booze booze. ~18% and it definitely shows. Sharp vanilla sweetness accented by alcohol heat on the nose. Just the barest hint of chocolate. Hits your tongue with a cooling sensation, gives the impression of chocolate. Finishes with booze burn

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2013) Carley
Not over-carbed, good amount of head. Golden color. Initial aroma hit is "rustic" (aka horse blanket) but turns into citrus and acid. Very effervescent, light flavor with notes of wood. Decently sour/tart. Astringent finish that leaves

World Wide Stout (2019) Carley
First time with this "whale". Very good. A lot going on and very boozy. Now I'm glad it comes as a 4 pack. I'll need multiple tastings to really assess this one.

Smells great but very thin mouthfeel that leaves a somewhat unpleasant aftertaste.

WOO-wee, its a big one. Light Amber color and big fluffy white head. Vanilla, oak, and an alcohol bite on the nose. Even a hint of dark fruit. At 14+% ABV there is definitely a heat and bite to it. Sweet but not cloying. A nice linger of oak and bourbon.

My palate has definitely changed since 2016 when I first checked this in. Pretty decent session IPA.
