120 Minute IPA (2019)

IPA - Quadruple

Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads.

One of my favorites. So hard to hold back on popping the top on this one, but it just mellows so nicely over time.

I think the 2019 batch might be one of the punchier batches. Despite being 4 years old, it still has a bite but I do love finding vintage 120 minutes.

Good. Aromatic. Boozy and strong. Hoppy with caramelized malts. Resin and grapefruit notes; a little woody. A bit of candi sugar sweetness, with a little raisin. Slightly viscous and a tiny bit sticky. Reminds of a barleywine.

Kind of a sweet spot for aging this: Still kept light carbonation and body but lost the booziness. Did this with 2011 version (left).

Solid sipper watching the Lions. I definitely prefer them though with a little more age. Still a bit hot but the molasses is starting to come out.

A tasty punch in the mouth. Almost like a barley wine at this point. Still worth it.

A treat to have this again. Massive booze. Strong smooth and rich malt. Bitterness is still there and it tastes like apricot and marmalade. It’s got big booze but it still hides the 18 abv so well. Definitely Bareley Wine like.

I can’t believe I found this at Kroger. Better yet, I can’t believe I spent this much on a damn 4-pack. Good, but certainly not worth this kind of cash.
