Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we've now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

Smooth for the very high abv. Oak notes and light vanilla, warming bourbon that's not too overpowering, aged 5 years

LC. Brew Day. Dat damn Nik T. again. Heavy oak, bourbon, cherry, vanilla, barrel tannins. No ABV even listed. Take a bite of that beer spelt grain bread with a slather of local šŸÆ!

Tasty! Malted milk choc & indistinct dark dried fruit take the fore, w/ big vanilla extract, heavily toasted white sugar, & a dab of caramel mid-taste, & overwhelming marshmallow burying all else late. 16% ABV absurdly well-hidden @5.5 years.

5 years ago I logged this beer and speculated that it would age well. I was not wrong.

This held up well. Vanilla, big and boozy but not over powering. Perfect sipping desert for this cold weather.

Big, boozy, roasty, chocolate. Still smooth, though.

Didn’t realize I had this brew that long! Bottled 6/15/2017. Getting slight oak, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, and a bit of chocolate. Not getting any booziness despite the 16% abv tag (and it’s likely higher at this point).

Damn! This is another great barrel aged stout by these guys! Sweet, boozy, malty vanilla, coffee, chocolate and toffee. Excellent beer! And yes, it DOES age well.

Huge oak tannins on top of robust vanilla and chocolate. Yikes..

Had on draft, took some time to settle the head but expected. Initial aroma was boozy bourbon and cocoa. Right away sweet syrup with heavy bourbon flavor. Vanilla fingers through midway and stays throughout. A little too much syrup flavor for me.

Have never seen this on draft, so had to try it. It's at a premium price, of course. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.

Bottled 6/15/2017, recently bought at DFH. Raisin and vanilla aroma. Oaky, lots of vanilla. Still nicely carbonated.

Not rating tonight’s bottle. Not sure if this tasted like dryer sheets bc the vanilla was funky or if it’s bc of follow the BCBS Barleywine. Will give benefit of the doubt on this one and not rate
