Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we've now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

It's gotten a little bit better. 4.35. Surprisingly too much barrel! Nothing unique in my opinion.

Sitting on this bottle for 4 years. It picked up a bit of soy sauce flavor but is still pretty good.

Talk about a back of the cooler find. Well done Charlie, and I probably will be. Let it warm a bit.nose has mellowed, rich smooth great transition. First vanilla then oakiness, some booze on the finish. Strongest alcohol bite is early, leaves a tingle too

Mellowed with age drastically. Probably best after 3 years of age but this was damn good.

Catch up - Round 3 - So 3rd times the charm I guess…strong, oaky, liquid vanilla, South American coffee flavors and aromas, spices, clove undertones and a deep fall feeling. Get cozy! Sadly my lady of this series

Cheers Britt! Last time I had this you gave it to me. Do you just have a secret rep closet full of these? Really mellow, but better then I remembered.

What better way to celebrate International Stout Day than with a WORLD WIDE STOUT. Big and boozy. Dark fruit berry peat raisins tobacco. Some oak. Vanilla has mellowed out. Aged beautifully

Last one in the stash. I don’t go this high often but it’s painfully simple but so damn tasty. The oak and vanilla round out the barrel burn with sweetness that is taking the bite. DFH just really nailed it with this one.

Wow, better with age. Dark, slight roasty malt flavor, strong vanilla and marshmallow notes. Alcohol finish has mellowed over time, but still has a little bite to it.
