Way better than last bottle, dry and silky mouthfeel, moderate acid, moderate oaky barrel

Oude Geuze Boon (2017-2018) Fields
06-04-2039 75cl. Still a touch of the sweetness of young lambic. A little more volatility now but still not much.
Last time I had a bottle of this was in 2014, when it was 8 years old, and now it’s twice that and is even better. Surprising fruit left, cheesy funk, solid acid, well carbonated, and not much oxidation. Yum.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2014) Fields
Batch 81604. Citrus, M+ acid with mild volatility, a little mineral but not much funk, decent carb.

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2017) Fields
Still a pretty simple geuze but now with more acid, not a net gain
about 3 years ago
Fruity for Boon, in that juicy brett tropical-berry way rather than apple or citrus, and sharper than usual acidity.

Oude Geuze White Vermouth Foeders Fields
Good minerally Boon with higher than usual acid but still under control. Less vermouthy than when younger but it’s still there.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Fields
Mineral, dark citrus, cheesy funk as it warms, has the first hints if caramel oxidation. Feels kinda closed and reticent compared to previous bottles, still a great geuze but hoping it improves again rather than falling off because I have a bunch left.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) Fields
2/10/2018 375. This has dried out a lot and has that great Boon grapefruit character as well as modest funk.

1 Sept 375. This is in the plywood-wet wool-grass spectrum, with some orange and cardamom-clove too.

Moriau Oude Geuze Vieille (2018) Fields
More juicy brett-fruit character than last bottle.

1/31 75cl. Smoke, chlorine, olive—this is flawed and pretty bad.

Mikkeller Oude Geuze (Old Calvados Casks Blend) Fields
Totally dry, grapefruit bitterness, only mild barrel character, mild funk, this is excellent.

Cuvée Oude Henri (2020) Fields
God this is amazing. Super dry, bitter mineral, rich apple and apricot fruit, some barrel, solid acid (more than average young Mariage parfait or OG) but not too much and no VA.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2007) Fields
10-09 375ml. Really oxidized, not good anymore.

4 October 375ml. Mineral, orange peel, mint. Soft acid, no VA. Good batch that I expect will peak in another 2-3 years.

Volatile but nice funk too. Doesn’t seem much like my notes from last bottle of this a year ago.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) Fields
2/10/2018 375ml. Cheese rind, butter orange, some orchard fruit. Tasting less obviously young (and better).

Kriek Mariage Parfait (2009) Fields
17-8-2011 bottle date, 375ml. This is slightly thin but great brett and juicy cherry, mild acidity, no significant oxidation on this bottle. Drinking great.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°5 Fields
Has the hallmarks of black label—dry, grapefruit, mineral. Not the wow factor of the best batches but very drinkable and good.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2014) Fields
Batch 81604 75cl. During a movie and didn’t take notes; was good but felt a little young still though with a little more volatility than previous bottles of this batch.

Oude Geuze Boon - Bone Dry Mikkeller Selection Fields
4,000th unique check in. Excellent. In Black Label territory obviously but this is fruitier than black label b1, juicy even, with mixed citrus and apricot where BL1 is pure grapefruit. Very dry, perfect level of acid, damn good but tastes a little young.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - VAT 110 Mono Blend Fields
Very good, very Boon. Definitely matured since last bottle I had.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2014) Fields
1 Dec 2014 375ml. Rather sharp for Cantillon, with a tomatoey vinegar character. Nice river rock mineral character too. Not Cantillon at its best but still a nice drink.

Oude Schaarbeekse Kriek (2019) Fields
Very dry, savory and a bit metallic, some brett but not all that much depth of fruit. The fruit is slightly exotic. Acid is refreshingly moderate.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°2 Fields
Very dry, very grapefruit. Like the last bottle this one is a bit thin and loses carb quickly but I don’t get much of the cheese and mineral I did from that one. It does finish salty.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - VAT 92 Mono Blend Fields
Average quality, a little sharp for Boon, red fruit. Some drying mineral. Not as overtly red winey as eg the OB Vandervelden bottles.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - VAT 109 Mono Blend Fields
All the gravelly mineral you could ask for but this bottle is a little lacking in acid and depth relative to earlier ones. Still very good.

Good enough but disappointing compared to previous bottles I’ve opened. Kinda thin and weak and carbonic. Appley.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) Fields
Batch 82707, 24/08/2037. Fairly typical Boon character of mineral and gravel, with the richer MP profile. Fairly dry, fairly low acid, a little bitter. Way too young, and not a batch for drinking early. Have three more, probably open next in three years.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2020) Fields
7 Feb 75cl. Jammy almost raspberry fruit but the acid is too harsh. Had it with a sweet potato-carrot-chickpea tagine and it would’ve gone well aside from the acidity.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - VAT 79 Mono Blend Fields
This has an overt oak character I don’t understand coming from old foeders. Maybe it’s not actually oak derived? Also medicinal, some citrus. Relatively soft. Shows some alcohol. The least impressive of the several Vat bottles we’ve had recently.
Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - Vat 77 Mono Blend Fields
This has always had an oaky sweetness that’s still there but the metallic flavor from earlier bottles has aged out. Still a mild saltiness. The least good of the Vat series but definitely mature now and a very good geuze. Lots of chunky floaties. 8.5/10

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Fields
Wow. A shot of electric, liquid rock with waves of grapefruit and bleu cheese behind. Perfect acidity, perfect CO2 and body, just flawlessly balanced and seething with energy. An incredible bottle. How much better could this get? 9.5/10

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2015) Fields
2/10/18 375ml. Better than last bottle, coming along nicely w mustiness, bitter orange, flowers. No longer tastes like a baby, this is in an early sweet spot, but still years of improvement left before peak. Good with mac and cheese with roasted broccoli.

31-10-2018. A really good young Boon. Already feels complete with nice acid, funk, depth, full mouthfeel. Should be a great batch over the next however many years.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne - Vat 44 Mono Blend Fields
Great depth and classic old geuze character: basementy with faint orange and stone fruit, hay, cheese rind. Has some of the plastic like flavor old Cantillon often gives me but not enough to offend. No sign of negative oxidation or decline, although this

This is very high acid for boon, but not much volatility. Lots of mineral, some herb, hint of elderflower/pickle, tasty stuff. Lively carb.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°3 Fields
Dry and mineral as usual but sadly this has less depth and character than other Black Label batches. By no means flawed, still a nice and balanced geuze, just a little lacking given the pedigree.

24 Sept 375. Same kinda plastic/rubber taste I’ve been getting from other old Cantillon (and only old Cantillon). Still good. Burned orange, lots of carb for cantillon.

4 Oct 75cl. There’s a plasticy off taste in this bottle that mostly ruins this for me. It’s otherwise good, so maybe other bottles from the batch will be better?

Mikkeller Oude Geuze (Old Calvados Casks Blend) Fields
This is drinking so well. Totally dry with perfect acidity, bright but with good depth, some orange, some calvados character but subtle (less apple than a typical 3F), hint of Boon funk...so good.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2019) Fields
15 Feb bottle. Haven’t had CSG in a while, and this is great. Not far off from eg De Garde dry hopped sours on the nose but in the palate clearly Cantillon—the young lambic and hops together remind me of being at the brewery.

Oude Geuze Boon Ă l'Ancienne 2017-2018 Fields
04-06 75cl bottle. Good young Boon. Not as rich as Mariage Parfait of course but has more depth than a lot of young OG bottles. Lemon, mineral salt, modest funk. Good now but will improve for 8-10 years probably. 7.8/10
