Beer Geek Vanilla Shake Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] Flavour predictably of roasted malt and coffee - but also a truckload of chocolate and vanilla. Also a bit nutty and a hit of licorice. The vanilla and chocolate in the finish. Very sweet & thick as motor oil. Alcohol well hidden.

Cù't Cà Phê Bia (Port Barrel Aged) Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] On tap. Flavours are of roasted malts, LOTS of coffee, liquorice, fruits, wood, salt and port flavour. Full body. Low carbonation. Slightly bitter finish. Okay, but I like the regular version more.

Black As The Night Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] On tap. Pitch black and a brown head. Flavour is of roasted malts with chocolate, vanilla and something slightly fruity in the finish. And hops, which gives it a bitter aftertaste. Not super good or balanced either.

Beer Geek Breakfast Borgquist

Brewed 2009, bought at the brewery in 2020. Batch 471. Still carbonated. Roasty aroma. There’s still some coffee flavour left, but most of the bitterness has turned sweet with time. It’s okay, but a good example that not all beers benefit from being aged.

Texas Ranger Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] Flavours are of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, spices and the smoky taste of the chilies - followed by liquorice - in the finish. Full body with a bitter (but good) finish. I like it, but I wouldn’t want to drink it all the time.

Beer Geek Bacon/Rauch Geek Breakfast Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] Flavours are of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and smoke. Does in no way make me think of bacon. Body is on the thin side & the taste is roasty and very metallic. Drinkable but nothing more ... but I've never been a "smoke fan".

Black (Barrel Aged Tequila / Speyside Edition) Borgquist

[Backlog from Ratebeer] Flavours of roasted malts, coffee, spices, chocolate, licorice, wood and alcohol. Finishes of roasted malt, tequila and some bitterness. Medium body (surprisingly not-full for an 18.8% beer).

Imperial Stout (2019) Borgquist

It may not be KBS, but then again few beers are. But it’s an awesome beer anyway - dark and roasty and a bit sweet. Delicious taste.

Nitro CBS (2019) Borgquist

Quite possibly the most smooth and creamy beer I’ve EVER had. Flavours of maple (not so much) and lots of coffee and chocolate. Sweet, but THIS is how to make a very drinkable sweet beer. SUPER delicious. Almost like liquid cake. Me likey likey likey 🍻😋

Beer Hop Breakfast Borgquist

Man, I don’t even know how old this one is, but it’s still good. Not many hops left, but a dry, roasty and oaty flavour is still present. The coffee seems to have mostly disappeared though. Still, it’s still very very drinkable.

Resting Brew Face Borgquist

Okay tasty and hoppy bitterness, but apart from the usual DIPA flavours it also has a strange additional undefinable flavour, perhaps mint. Not bad though.

Entrepreneur Borgquist

Pretty ordinary IPA with flavours of malt, hay and citrus. Dry and bitter but has a slightly tart finish.

Oculus Orbus Borgquist

Full body and juicy tropical flavours with a good bitterness and a surprisingly low sweetness for a DIPA. Very balanced and very good.

Good grassy flavour and a medium bitterness. Very quenchable.

Undulate V6 Borgquist

My first thought was “chocolate” and my second and third thoughts were “COFFEE” and “ALL OF IT”. Lots of coffee and lots of the following bitterness. Almost too much tbh - it makes it unbalanced. The taste *is* fine though.

Imperial Stout (2019) Borgquist

This is how I like my imperial stouts: dark, roasty and dry. Flavours of of coffee and chocolate are also welcome. This is a great beer and I enjoy it every time.

French Toast Bastard (2019) Borgquist

Yes, tastes just it says - roasty with sweet flavours of maple and vanilla. Also malty and excessively boozy. Okay, but really too malty and sweet to really hit the “sweet spot” for me. Not something I could drink a whole bottle of.

Blow Out Borgquist

Last night. Very fruity but somehow dry too. Some bitterness but not as much as I prefer. Seemed a bit flat. Not bad, but just boring and below average.

Do You Think This Is A Fucking Game? Borgquist

Aw man, this is great. It’s dry and bitter with flavours of pine and citrus. No sweetness or haziness in sight - this is proper old-school turned up to eleven. Excellent!

Porter Borgquist

Flavours of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. More sweet than dry. Nice flavour. Not an extreme porter, but it’s solid and certainly above average - and one I’ve had many times for that same reason.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2018) Borgquist

Flavours of raspberries. A bit sour, but not too much (imho). Delicious, but not bad, but not really my usual style.

Clear and crisp. Fruity and a bit malty, but it has a nice bitterness and a long bitter finish too. Not bad.

Malty and sweet with almost no bitterness at all, despite tasty citrus flavours. Nah, not for me. Boring.
