Curmudgeon Old Ale (2016) Moran
Rich molasses malts. Accurately portrays itself in ABV even for such an ancient beer. Still holds a head indefinitely too. There must be something behind the "old" in old ales! If I was a sailor, this would be my beer.

2018 vintage. Fudgy bourbon approaching perfection. The apparent overaging (my preference is 2-3 years) here isn't even a problem.

Really not much different. Takes a few sips for the heat. Spicy caramel would be a little better, just sayin

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Moran
Slightly less sweet and better balanced than I remember. A serious prospect for being so young; this is a good year. Let it mellow 1-2 more years and it will be legendary.

Snowbound Vanilla Porter Moran
I prefer their unadulterated porter to the stuffy addition of vanilla, but they did it well.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Moran
Age has been very kind to this beer. So soft and flavorful. More cocoa than anything, but it's all there in steady amounts.

I still like this better off nitro, but it is an incredible beer either way.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Moran
4 (technically 5) years is a bit past prime age, but still a total winner.

This may be the only beer made by Founders that isn't obviously better off with the barrel aging. Love the burnt umber color though.

A fine rendition of a style I markedly don't like (but wanted to try)

(2017 vintage) A masterpiece if you can handle the sweet. Buttery maple and cinnamon. Age did this very well aside from the ugly murky brown color. It honestly tastes like a Southern Tier collab.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Moran
The flavors mostly mellowed into each other. No sharp bourbon left. 2-3 years is still the sweet spot, not 5.

As someone who likes big goofy stouts, I can believe some people enjoy this, but I am not one of them. Massively boozy and overly bitter.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2017) Moran
Held up better than expected, but a little too aged. Still marvelous.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Moran
Better than a lot of beers and cocktails out there at the same time.

Why they gotta put cherry juice in perfectly good KBS? Still an amazing stout despite the sabotage.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Moran
Cinnamon vanilla cocoa is awesome, but KBS is already bordering beer enlightenment that it only takes away.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Moran
Absolute decadence, but amazingly not to a fault (if you only want one)

One of my favorite beers off nitro. Nitro makes this too soft and the hides flavors I like most.

Not sure I ever had such a wonderful first sip from a bottle pour. Magnificent aging too.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Moran
Real weird until you realize it's supposed to mimic an old fashioned, and by God it does (with the giant ice cube fully melted). This was made by beer wizards and I kind of love it.

Roasty breakfast coffee vibes are well captured (aside from the smokey notes). If I were to drink a stout at breakfast, I'd probably grab this.

Blushing Monk is great, but this doesn't improve on anything. Just a bit more needless complexity.

This is it. This is the best cherry flavored beer. Everyone else please stop trying now.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Moran
Far from the best KBS rendition, but still an excellent beer.
No need for nitro here, but nothing is ruined. Coffee comes out more.

Founders BBA coffee (sweet) brown ale at 11%. Reached every expectation of flavor and quality. If you don't know what to expect already, I feel sorry for you.
Points off for not being as great warm, which is a top tier stout requirement.
A little too sweet. I don't get any of the barrel aging, sadly.

Strong maple sweetness but not enough to make me put down the glass. Aged well enough that you don't need to set aside any bottles.

Raspberries followed by more raspberry followed by a good stout. Even a flight of this is enough.
