Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2005) A.
Oaky, mushroomy, basementy nose; citrusy, funky, creamy taste. Exceptionally well aged.

2004 label, 2006 cork. Still super floral and a nice bitterness in the nose. Creamy, funky, vegetal, floral, musty, bitter taste. Aged super well and could easily age another 15 years at this rate.

This is remarkable now after 4-5 years. Red fruits, vanilla, mild acidity, barnyard, blue cheese funk, light mustiness, light puckering tannins in the finish. Lambic is really dominating the fruit now. Really special when that happens with old grapes.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2019) (+25% 4 Year Lambic) A.
As before, decanted half and drank half without decanting. Decanted half wins by a good bit until non-decanted portion eventually catches up. More nuttiness and barrel character, less sharpness.

I've had 10 vintages of fou foune and this is my least favorite I've had. Apricot in the nose doesn't transmit well to the taste, and it's pretty grassy. Mouthfeel is disrupted by microcarb. It's a great beer, but it's not up to the other fou bottlings.

Decimates 2020, but doesn't taste "old" yet. Candied apricot, moderate acidity, lingering musty barley, but no real funk. Great, but I'd definitely rather drink a 2012.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2014-2015) A.
Apple, grapefruit, mustiness, lingering barley.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2013) A.
Assertive grapefruit and light lemon. Nice, creamy, rich body. Light bitterness, moderate acidity, not funky yet. Finish is a lingering barley and mustiness. Really nice, but would have guessed 4-5 years old blind, not 7-8. 4.6-4.7.

4.8+. This is absolutely wonderful right now. Super funky in a non cheesy way, lemon lime, mild acidity. Very full bodied and complex.

January 2013. While drinking zyf9, Simon said Iris was special at the end of his PCT hike, so I opened an old Iris. Super creamy, ridiculously vegetal (green bell pepper, broccoli), still quite bitter. Well balanced and wonderful, even if not funky.

Oh my god. New batch is fantastic. Vanilla is a bit light, but it's a hugely creamy bottle and the blueberry is surprisingly prominent. Mixed berry yogurt against a Cantillon backbone.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2015) A.
Would normally be a 4.75, but it went alongside 2 5s. 🤷♂️ Much less barrel character than the 2020 I just drank. It's present but I've never found b3 to be strong barrel. Still, a nice, well-rounded bottling with just enough cognac to distinguish it.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) A.
Long story about why it looked like this and why I opened this instantly on the lambic.info fb group. Haha. But, huge vanilla, grape, nutty, typical cantillon notes.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) A.
Thanks Benny L.! Chocolate and roast. Good stuff.

Fresh fou is really nice after two drainpours. This is definitely on the heavy carb side for cantillon, but it dissipates pretty quickly.

Really good, but not a lot of benefit from the age yet on this one. Tasted much younger than the 2014 classic gueuze we drank right beforehand. Still pretty bitter, not very funky yet.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2015) A.
This is getting really good. Cherry starting to drop off a little, but it's still really bright. Musty, barnyard, funky notes really starting to get pretty strong. Good shit. Happy Zwanze Day!

Pre zwanze day! May, 2017 bottling. Quite jammy, getting a little funk in the finish. Nice.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2018) (Brandy) A.
Green apple, a ton of sweetness from the brandy barrel, fairly oaky, light citrus, light nuttinesd. Opens up well.

Moderate acidity, notes of grapefruit rind and green apple, slightly nutty, a nice vinous quality, a bit of oxidative character, and some oak notes. #DecanterAndInappropriateGlassware #DealWithIt

Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru (2007) A.
2007 label, 2010 bottle. Cheese, funk, dust, sawdust, oak, pine, low acidity, fairly delicate despite all the above. Damn good. Everything tonight is a major winner. 😻

Bright and crushable, with a lot of pop and zest. Berries, plums, a touch of orange, no real tannin / astringency. Glad to have another to age out. 😀

Creamy, floral, minimal bitterness. Green veggies ala Mamouche. Thanks B D.

Wow! That is one hell of a dusty, funky bottle. Moderate apricot, super old aged cheese, mineralic, barnyard hay, slightly nutty. Just fucking great. Thanks B D.

Oude Geuze Boon (2007-2008) A.
Better than the last one? More drinkable mostly because it just tastes like water with almost no flavor left (maybe one yellow skittle added?). I guess it has a slight sickly sweet oxidation scent and some metal notes. Hahahaha such a fail.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2012) A.
12 lambic, 15 bottle to celebrate 5 year wedding anniversary. Grapefruit, lemon, slight bitterness, fairly strong acidity. Very nice.

I owe it to myself to try this young, and Belgium isn't happening anytime soon. Green grape, pear, green apple, oak, a touch of vanilla, nice minerality, a touch of must. Lightest hint of citrus. Nice, and I hope these age as well as the muscat Vigs
